Boyang Jin

The jumps that need linear set-ups from him are knocking him into the boards again. I hope they change those entries. His SS have given him a huge speed gain, I guess, and are making jumps harder to control, so I hope they just make him jump away from the boards instead of trying to lower speed or height or length (though given how huge Chinese pair throws are, I think we can be confident that set-ups will be changed, as the quality seems to be valued in general there).

But then also he was completely fine just two months previously so maybe it's just a matter of conditioning. Still, I'd like to see him start to jump away from those boards. A serpentine 3-turn entry into the 4T would be great, gives him more time for steps.

I don't think he has siblings, at least not any on his live streams. Something tells me he wouldn't have hidden them

I don't think he has siblings, but he has a nephew (or is the correct term first cousin once removed?), which is probably why he's actually good at holding kids.

I remember from an interview after the Olympics that he found the rink at Pyeongchang smaller than he would like, so he intentionally skated slower than usual. I guess for whatever reasons he's just not focused enough recently to really control the speed into the jumps?
But I totally agree with you that they need to get him further away from the boards.

That's kind of brilliant, then, that he somehow appears reasonably fast on all fan cams I've seen, and that I saw very little difference in the amplitude of his jumps...

(But I actually also included 4CC there. I think he just didn't perhaps train enough because of fatigue after the Olys and couldn't quite do it. He landed it in the SP, too.)

I hope they focus on changing set-ups, because I'd love to see just how far he can (safely) go with those jumps.
