Brian Joubert

As far as I know, none of this is ever made public, so it is impossible to know whather anything ever comes of this procedure or not.

This coupled with anonymous judging is what hurts the sport and makes people assume that the judges are very crooked.

Of course there's nothing to say that not having annonymous judging helps. I don't know but i think that the British Nationals aren't annonymous but there is an almighty row and accustions or corruption regarding the dance result!

I agree with most of you that "All for you" was an excellent program for Brian and I was furious when he got that deduction last year at worlds for the "lyrics." I think if that had not happened, he would have kept the program for this year, which would have given him more time to get a good LP. I agree that Last of Mochians wasn't great for him, but then again, it could have been good if he had skated it well.

I understand that Brian is choosing these rock, macho themed music choices because he is still trying to justify his decision to be a skater to his dad, but there are other ways to do that than being 007 and Nero. There are some excellent classical pieces that are strong, powerful and could work very well for him. There are other choreographic moves than running on your toe picks without looking like a ballerina. I think he was really on the right track going to Kurt for guidiance, pity that partnership had to end. :(

1. I don't think Joubert's musical choices are about his father so much as they are based on what he feels best suits his style of skating. I think it would be in everyone's best interest if Brian leaves the Tangos and Rachmaninoffs to other skaters. Also, as I understand it, his athletic options were limited due to medical issues (at least that's what his Wikipedia page says).

2. Re choreo, I'd rather see toepick work than another cookie-cutter "flail your arms and say hi to your skates" step sequence. But an even better approach would be for Brian to go back to Kurt Browning and put together something that is neither of those things. Of course, this is up to Kurt.

I don't think Kurt was changing Brian's style, but he definitely was successful at enhancing it. Matrix is a very good number for Brian but it does not give him that versatile musicality he has, and should be showing. I see Matrix as an Exhibition number. A quad would fit in very easily to it, but think how it woul look with the Seasons.

I personnaly think that Brian is very versatile, it's just that not many people notice it, he's remembered for certain programs.

I've been reading quite a lot of things on his "All for You" program. I think that is such an amazing program for him: it allows him to show off all of his artistic qualities in one program: power, emotion, swiftness. This is the kind of program that Brian should be trying to do next year for his LP.
Unlike programs such as "1492" or "The last of the Mohicans", programs that allowed Brian to show his ability to touch people, "All for you" was also "actiony" enough for Brian to feel confortable when skating it, it allowed him to get rid of his stress.

I agree with those who think that versatility isn't Brian's strongest point. But there isn't many versatile figure skaters out there, many skate to the same tune for years, can't step out their comfort zone, and if they do, it's a disaster.

At least, Brian can be very entertaining. More so when he lands all the big jumps, IMO. I like him for that.

I agree that this could be the case in the beginning of his career. Now, I'm not so sure. He certainly seems more open-minded now, although still wouldn’t go to a ballet class. But he isn’t as wooden as he used to be.

If Brian wants to reload Matrix, he should go for it. I haven't seen the 1st one, so to me it's going to be a novelty experience, and I'm already looking forward to it.

I'm all for Brian to go for it any which way he seems is the winning way, and good luck to Brian from me.

That, however, does not make him my favorite skater. At the moment, I would like to see Christofer Brezina to win the Oly but I also doubt he will, that's not going change my opinion about him. Brian has a better shot at the Gold and The Matrix is his best bet.
