Here's an article re Jeffrey Buttle plans 'post 2010'.................

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/amateur/story/2008/01/09/skating-canada-buttle.html

He is planning to retire after the 2010 Olympics..............no surprise there - he states he wants to do ice shows afterwards. Hopefully, he will finish that chemical engineering degree!

Other salient points:
  • he identifies Chan as his chief rival at nationals
  • his back is ok but gets tight sometimes
  • he dropped his new SP and is using last year's SP
  • he feels he is ready and 'right on track'
  • no meniont of the elusive Quad and shaky 3A though

here's the Globe version - in this one it indicates he has been having boot problems (:unsure::eek::eek::eek: but it ois ok now??

he did not train the Qtoe but has been landing Q salchow.......................

Thanks for posting that for us to read. My thought ..... will he even make it to 2010 ???????

Actually................my thoughts exactly:think::think:

He is 25 now...................he'd be 27 so it is possible but I think it will be a struggle. I truly hope he DOES make it and does well but.....only time will tell

I think he should forget about quads, and just focus on landing clean triples and 3A. He will be better off executing technically less challenging elements clean than falling underrotated/messy quads and getting hugh -GOEs. He has terrible lean with triple lutz and if he can fix it, that will leave a good impression on the judges.

Man, stick with Lee Barkell. He skating appeared more polished with Lee Barkell than with Arutunian.

Thank you. I am happy that he went back to the last year's SP. I LOVE that sophisticated program. Yes, I am sure that he can make the Olympics because I think that Canada will have two spots that will be earned by himself and Chan.

I agree. Jeff should really showcase his artistic side and leave the quads to the technicians. I wish him the best no matter how things turn out and I still consider Jeff one of the most gifted figure skaters I have had the pleasure to watch. He inspires me.

I agree.....................I have always enjoyed his skating:clap::clap:

He's been landing the quad sal in practice? That's surprising and I always thought it was the quad toe he was pushing for. But I wish he'd just forget the quad completely - it's never gonna come consistently for him under the pressures of competition, and it's only gonna cause him more pain and uncertainty. He hasn't been able to learn it like Takahashi or Lysacek even. Stick to the artistry we love you for, Jeff.

I'm not confident that he'll be in Vancouver challenging for a medal, anymore. As sad as that is to say. I think Worlds this year will be crucial for him to maintain hope. I tink Vancouver may be his going-away farewell similar to that older American skater in 2002 SLC... Todd Elridge? Right now Patrick is doing the spins and jumps so much better.

Im quite content with him not having the quad and getting his consistancy back. He is such a wonderful artistic skater, I love his programs. I also think he will be around in 2010. Im hoping he has just been in a slump, with his injuries and all. I wish him the very best:clap::rock:
