Carolane Soucisse & Shane Firus

3rd in the Free Dance at Lake Placid New personal best in the Free. Looking good for the year it is only August! 5th in the rhythm dance,. Moved up to 4th overall.
 
Hmm, in some ways that follows the template of Chock & Bates's FD from last year so closely they may be tempted to sue for copyright infringement.

These two really are having growing pains.

Yeah... Well, they certainly seem to be more comfortable than last year. I feel bad for them, they actually tried to be brave and create two pretty original programs last season. Their tango or rather its idea was awesome.

Edit: I have one question though: aren't they supposed to touch between the first and the second set of twizzles? Isn't that the new rule? S/D had a pretty elaborate lift, for instance; and from that vantage point I can't really see Carolane and Shane touching... It looks like they are going for a kiss or something? As far as I remember the rule is they just need to touch, whether it is a high five or something more complicated.

You seem to have forgotten Fournier Beaudry/Sorensen. Or do you think them weaker than Soucisse/Firus? They had a not very successful FD debut at Lombardia Trophy this past weekend (a fall and some lost levels on steps, lifts and spin), but scored very close to Guignard/Fabbri in the RD.

Not to take anything away from Carolane and Shane - I like them - but, realistically, I don't think they are going to pass F-B/S this season, unless they (F-B/S) continue having bad skates with serious mistakes.

What odd scoring in the SD at France GP! I thought their technical elements were good! And I certainly enjoyed the performance! In fact, theirs was my favorite - much more stylized. Don't get the 68 and 7th place!
