Carolina Kostner To Keep Skating Until 2014 Olympics

common, she has much higher skating skills than Slutskaya and is faster than her. Carolinas artistry and connection to the music is greater an Slutskaya. If you say Slutskaya a more difficult jump lay-out, ok, it's true, and it was due to injury Carolina had to take away some jumps she always had until her injury on her knees

you are wrong, she earned the spot beating Valentina at Euros and being European Champion 2010
Carolina has develop such skills, artistry and presentation. She really shows what figure skating is, not only jump, jump, jump with nothing in between.

I'm so happy she will continue for two more years, that are great news. :D

Slutskaya's skating skills are even better than Kostner's. Kostner used to be faster but sometimes she tended to lost control because of her huge speed. Irina also had tremendous speed, though she was always in total control of her skating. And at nowadays, Carolina slowed down to the point where their speed is equal.

Are you kidding? Irina's skills better than Carolina? I don't think so. Skating Skills are not only about speed. The amount of flow and deep edges that Carolina's skating features are just unbeatable. In my humble opinion, she has the best skating skills in the world.

Per IN this morning:

(08/02/2012) - Carolina Kostner's name was scratched Thursday from the entry lists for the Cup of China and Trophée Eric Bompard, the two Grand Prix events in which she was scheduled to compete this fall.
No formal announcement has been made or reason given for her apparent withdrawal from these competitions.

[No mention of this news (yet??) by carolina-kostner.it @msKOSTNER on Twitter.]

That is a HUGE change for the other skaters. Kostner had has opened up a lot of room for others to get a chance at a medal. I wonder what happened.

Interesting; I guess we will have to wait and see what she has to say; imho she has already succeeded and won a world championship title.

My guess is that she's just late on her preparation...I doubt she had trained properly until her decision to stay and this was taken not even a month ago...

The Italian edition of Vanity Fair apparently has a new interview with Kostner.

I have not tried using a translation website. Don't know if the interview has any news about her skating plans.

[But I do see from her website that on Sep 22 in Verona, she will perform for the first time with Lambiel to "Romeo & Juliet" for Opera on Ice -- don't know whether another GS thread already has post(s) about that.]

Carolina is so lovely. Hoping she is managing through this tough time for her and her boyfriend. Hope someone can post something better than a Google translate. Love Carolina!

Good for her. Her comeback since 2010 has been one of the best things about skating.

The whole situation with her boyfriend must be very hard for her. They are going to have a lot to work on ... can't imagine how difficult it must be for her. The fuss in Italy is huge, his case is covered everywhere in the press and naturally, Carolina gets dragged into this. IMO she has handled this in a very clever way, keeping quiet the first 2 weeks and then just giving a very short statement at her press conference. As far as I know, further questions on his case were forbidden for the rest of the conference. I hope she can find a way to cope with all of this.

I think as time goes by, Italians and the press will hopefully stop associating her with his doping case. But I think for the next couple of months this is something she has to live with - everything she does will be referred to it.

Here is a video of the press conference she gave, one in German http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovNSs7x-IJ8 and one in Italian http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZSWyhgy3uw.

Apparently, paparazzi have also started following them, these photos were published in a magazine this week: http://www.oggi.it/focus/gallery/alexschwazer-e-carolina-kostner-lultimo-abbraccio/?pid=12580

Quite a fuss.

I am really, really looking forward to her show "Opera on Ice" next month! Great cast, great show and her performing with Stéphane will be so special. I hope they will release it on DVD again.

The full interview is on the magazine, which I don't have: that one on the website is only an excerpt. They're only questions about her boyfriend so I won't translate them, unless someone wants me to of course :) If she's said something new about her plans it'll probably come out sooner or later.

She and Lambiel are going to be skating to the aria 'Je veux vivre' from Romeo and Juliet.

Carolina said that she won't participate at gp because she wants a longer break and for preventing any possible injury. She is listed for the Golden Spin of Zagreb in december before nationals. She will probably concentrate on euros and worlds

She looked really good, said she's excited about this second edition of Opera on Ice then bla-bla about Opera on Ice, then said that after the show she'll start training really seriously for the upcoming season, that ske knows it will be a difficult one and that she doesn't expect anything talking about results, she just loves skating and considers skating like working (she added that this summer she went on holiday for the first time in ten years!!). Tomorrow night Opera on Ice in verona with Carolina, Lambiel, Plushenko etc., I'm really excited about the Kostner+Lambiel program!
