Carolina Kostner

Yesterday, I spent a good chunk of the day watching the Italian round of the MotoGP World Championship, held in Mugello.

And I wasn't the only one watching...

Carolina was at the race!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points:

Here is a photo of her outside the Suzuki hospitality:

And here is a photo of her chatting with Suzuki rider Andrea Iannone:

In case you are wondering, Andrea Iannone finished in 10[SUP]th[/SUP] position. Iannone has been having a disappointing season so far. For all of his four previous seasons in the MotoGP class, he was riding Ducatis, which have a 90-degree 4-cylinder engine. But, this year he moved to the Suzuki, which has an inline 4-cylinder engine. And he has been struggling to adapt to the different bike.

Conversely, the guy that replaced him on the factory Ducati, 3-time MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo, has also been disappointing so far this season. For all of his 9 years in the MotoGP class, he was on an inline 4 Yamaha, and he is finding it hard to adjust to the 90-degree 4 Ducati.

The other Suzuki is normally ridden by class rookie Alex Rins. But he broke his arm in the third round in Texas, and has been replaced for the past 2 races by 2014 World Superbike Champion Sylvain Guintoli. Apart from a single replacement ride in 2011, Guinters hasn't been in MotoGP for 9 years, so his 17[SUP]th[/SUP] position wasn't too bad.

It may not have been great results for the team she was supporting, but I hope Carolina had a great day.

What am I on about?! Of course she had a great day! All the races yesterday were absolutely brilliant!!!

I have some added info for you, the competition is the 1st Stage of the Cup of St Petersburg. She landed 3F-2T, 3Lo, 2A. It was closed to the media as this is the Olympic season and the Russians don't want to show their programs to the public before the test skates.

There's video!

Just saw a post in Liza's thread saying that Caro was 6[SUP]th[/SUP] in the FS (working it out, her score was 117.91), and ended up 5[SUP]th[/SUP] overall with a score of 190.78.

Don't know what happened in Caro's FS that dropped her. But, she finished up pretty close to Sakhanovich just above her.

Liza was 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] in the FS, and won the competition overall.

Since you need to sign in to read the vKontakte post that adelia linked to, here are the overall results:

1 Елизавета ТУКТАМЫШЕВА 213.35 2 2
2 Анастасия ГУБАНОВА 212.59 3 1
3 Станислава КОНСТАНТИНОВА 201.76 4 3
4 Серафима САХАНОВИЧ 191.42 5 4
5 Каролина КОСТНЕР 190.78 1 6
6 Александрина ДЕГТЯРЕВА 188.96 6 5
7 Алена ЛЕОНОВА 172.41 7 9
8 Мария ПЕРЕДЕРОВА 168.30 9 8
9 Екатерина ГУСЕВА 167.03 11 7
10 Алина СОЛОВЬЕВА 150.04 8 11
11 Варвара ДЮКАРЬ 149.77 12 10
12 Пидия ЯКОВЛЕВА 143.31 10 13
13 Aйза МАМБЕКОВА 133.79 16 12
14 Дарья КУЛИКОВА 131.99 14 14
15 Ксения ОСИПОВА 125.32 15 15

Oh well, it was nice to have the top 2 positions follow the order of my username after the SP at least. :p

Caro must of had jump problems that is the only way she would end up off the podium.

She could have intentionally done a lot of doubles also. It's just an early-season comp - and, while it may be more important for the Russians taking part, I don't think there would be any reason for Caro to go all out there. The objective was probably to take her program out for a whirl in a competitive setting.
