Carolina Kostner

Carolina decided to switch back to Michael Huth? It's wise, I think. Got everything she could in St. Petersburg. And very probably Russian Federation pushed Mishin to pay more attention to his Russian students as they weren't recently very successful...
Good luck with new-old coach!

Carolina slightly corrected the story appeared in Gazzetta dello Sport.
She says both Huth and Mishin are part of her coaching team.
She has trained in Obersdorf to stay close to her family. She has daily contacts with Mishin.

Thank you for the information. It's nice to hear that she stays in good relationship with Mishin - and that she is able to gather the team adequate to her needs.
I am really excited to see her beautiful skating very soon :)

Beautiful Short Program from the Goddess on Ice today. She blew me away with that performance!

Good luck to Caro in the FS! :cheer:

11th Medal For her.

She's "piling up" the personal bests, seems like. And she's breaking any record.

Kant wait to see her in Korea and in 2022. :)

11th Medal (Not hard to foresee)! (Gold)

Just Amazing. Kant wait to see her in Oly 2022.

She deserves her bronze despite messing up. She still fought and was good. And her SP was fenomenal. She just needs to work on her nerves.

Maria has gifted Carolina her podium. I usually root for Caro but today wasn't her best competition.

No Maria did not gift Caro her win. Maria lost in the SP.

Agree that this was not Caro best skate but her her marks reflected that.

Maria FS was excellent but her SP was not.

Journalist Arianna Secondini, Coach Franca Bianconi and Caro's manager Giulia Mancini commented/interviewed Caro, the record breaker. She'll go on until 2022, seems like. Yay! (Also, "the famous" 250 points will be easily reachable in Korea).

Considering the ranking and Sotkova: can we say... professor Mishin... "helped his own country to lose a medal"?

I like the skating of Sotskova (sometimes I think I see her as a younger Caro) but in no way "gave her the podium" :angry2:

I would love for Caro to continue skating but it is something utopian, she is one of the few skaters who appeared to last in time, but even Michelle Kwan had to retire, skating has many physical demands, I think Caro would be a wonderful instructor and choreographer for the next generations :agree:

But for now I will continue to celebrate that I can continue to see her shine in the rink and win medals :yahoo:

Bravo Caro !!

OMG... That is a wonderful piece of news!!! We Italians will have a decent TV figure skating coverage for another Olympic cycle :)

CaroK has this issue of losing focus in her LP, almost as if her excitement in landing the 3Lz and 3F caused so much happiness she forgot that she had to focus on another 5 more jump passes. Her PCS at Europeans was an anomaly, I think even us fans will agree that it was too much for what was put out. Focus focus - that will be key for the LP in the Pyeongchang games. Once she keeps focused and bring back the 3Lz and a 3-3 or 2A-3T, a podium finish is assured.

Decent layout = 3Lz, 3F-2T, FCoCSP, 2A-3T // 2A-1R-3S, 3R, FCSP, 3F, 3S, StSQ, ChSq, CoCSP

I have run into this old video of hers and totally impressed by her program/performance. (THAT SPEED!)

https://youtu.be/uNlMMOe_jjc?t=159

I suppose that's when she was more "athletic" than "artistic," but her skating skills and sure-footedness is still very much evident. I watched the whole video and the second one and was shocked at how high overall level of skating was back then, yet how stingy the given scores were. Transitions were weaker, yes, but I would much rather watch jumps with flow in and out than jumps that thud with a hand up.
