Caroline Zhang's 2009-10 season

does anybody know what issue Caroline's pictures will be in? Congrats to her. She got her pics in Seventeen and did not have to deal with 12 bitchy girls and get a makeover :)

As for Kristi, she is more the cute type than the hot type. Pretty, but I prefer her looking more natural than in the dancing with the stars pic.

Oh, I'm so surprised. Different strokes, as you said. I love Kristi's skating and her brief dancing career, but I would never have her anywhere near the top of a list of photogenic ladies. This is funny. Of course everyone's entitled to their own taste, but when you pasted link saying it's someone more than both Alissa and Kimmie put together, I was really curious who it might be. By the way, I do think Alissa and Kimmie are photogenic. I also think that Caroline is photogenic when she is her natural self.

Note that I don't necessarily equate attractiveness with being photogenic.

IMO, Czisny is photogenic but I don't necessarily consider her a knockout. If that makes any sense, anyway :p

Per Twitter the photoshoot happened on July 19th, hope someone will post the news when the issue is out! :) Sweet sixteen!!

Oh, Caroline just said she pulled out, to be replaced by Mirai! So, I don't think the fans will be disappointed no matter what! And I'm sooooooooooo happy that Caroline will give her knee a break, I just hope that it heals completely and won't cause her any more trouble the rest of the season (or her skating career).

To those of you, along with me, who prodded her to pull out, well done! Maybe we actually made a small difference in her decision. ;)

I'm so glad. :)

And yes, Caroline Twittered about the Seventeen photoshoot. She posted that it was taking ages for her to get made up, I asked her what's the occasion, and she told me. I'm not sure if there'll just be photos or an article/blurb accompanying them, but either way it'd be nice if someone could put it all up online for us to see. ;)

The female skaters that hold that distinction for me are the few and the proud ;)

I'm sure they must be honoured. Eww.

Shouldn't you be off relieving yourself in threads dedicated to them then? I know there aren't any up at the moment, but I'm sure if you start one, people will start flocking to it.

Haha I'm glad Caroline is taking a break and made the right decision, but I imagine she must be bummed out. And I can't help but be jealous that it's Mirai and not Caroline that we're getting to see skate again (assuming someone puts up video). :p

Has there been a recent video of Mirai skating? I'm curious to see what training with Frank Carroll has done for her so far.

I'm sure Caroline is bummed, but this is really for the best. I'm soooo glad she won't make the same mistakes that Mirai made last year. It would break my heart if she comes off in tears again like she did at JW in the SP (that was a bad skate due to a cold). Not to mention that her haterz tore her to shreds for that SP, like they were totally vindicated that she wasn't on the Worlds team.

Sounds like the best thing to do. But I honestly don't think she had much of a choice. She has to know that if the injury worsens, her shot at the Olympics could disappear just like that.

ETA: and to those crowing that they might have convinced her to make the decision, don't make me laugh. Her team and family have a MUCH bigger influence than a few Tweets.

That was me, though what do you mean "crowing"? If you want to participate in this thread, then you should at least read the posts carefully before distorting them and insulting other posters. Your behavior was rude and uncalled for. One for the ignore list. Byebye.

I am relieved Caroline decided to give her knee a rest. It's better to take time off now than after the season starts. I hope she has time to train for the Golden West, which will be her first competition of the season.

And it will be in the November issue of Seventeen.
Really hope it's a gorgeous picture that I could make into a poster

good to see caroline take care of her knee rather than perform injured. i could just imagine helene elliott writing an article about caroline like the one she did about mirai at nationals.

one question, maybe a bit off topic--wasn't mirai scheduled originally, not just as caroline's replacement? i seem to recall a disson site cast list that started with evan, followed by caroline, then mirai...

A magazine picture would not make a good poster. If it is a digital picture, you would need the original file. If it is a film picture, you would need the negative or the file scanned from the negative.

I don't think so, but I'm really curious to see Mirai too. Oh, I don't doubt that it is for the best. I really hope this will all we hear about the injury in the coming season.

If she does Golden West... She could decide that she needs more time after the break from this injury, right? But then again, she should probably get out there at least once before TEB...

She's wearing some tape on her knee, but it doesn't look look too serious, she seems to be still working on in the gym. Isn't she required to be monitored somewhere in the summer?

The USFSA monitors skaters to determine where to send them. But that doesn't really apply to Caroline because she already has 2 Grand Prix assignments.

It's good she is working out in a gym. She needs to build up her strength. Maybe she will go into next season looking like Joannie.

USFS requires the skaters to participate in an "in depth evaluation" where a review of the programs occurs with feedback from high level USFS officials. Many skaters (JGP and SGP level) go through this process at Liberty, Detroit, Indy Pairs, Lake Placid Dance, etc. Then, for all of those skaters assigned to fall international events (excepting A envelope), competition readiness has to be demonstrated at least 30 days prior to the skater's first fall international event. Hope that clarifies!

Haha I've seen on Facebook some of pictures she took at the gym. Not sure how much working out she's doing... She and her friend seem to be fooling around quite a bit.

has anyone heard anything on twitter about what caroline's exhibition will be next season? now that we know the short and long program music already, this is all the mystery that remains :p

and did caroline ever say why she went back to lullaby for a stormy night? after she skated 'river' at nationals, i was somehow expecting to see 'river' at WTT and at boston show, but polymerbob reported that river wasn't skated at boston, and the only youtube exhibition from WTT was 'lullaby.' any insights?
