Charlene Guignard & Marco Fabbri

[Alba]

Charlène Edith Magali Guignard (born 12 August 1989, Brest, France) is a French-Italian ice dancer who competes for Italy with Marco Fabbri since 2010. After partnerships with Christopher Guignard and Goulven Fourdan, she skated with Guillaume Paulmier, competing for France from 2006-2009. Guignard and Paulmier were the 2009 French junior champions and 2008 French junior bronze medalists.

Marco Fabbri (born 2 February 1988, Milan, Italy) is an Italian ice dancer. Fabbri was an Italian novice national ice dancing champion with Stefania Berton, but then concentrated on singles from 2001-2007. In the 2008-2009 season, he returned to ice dance, and teamed up with Paola Amati. Amati and Fabbri were the 2009 Italian junior bronze medalists.

As a team, Charlène and Marco are the 2023 European Champions, the 2023 World silver medalists, the 2019 and 2022 European bronze medalists, the 2018–19 and 2022-23 Grand Prix Final bronze medalists, 5-time (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023) Italian national champions and the 2020-21 Gran Premio Italia champions.

The two are also five-time Lombardia Trophy champions, two-time Golden Spin of Zagreb champions, and eight-time Italian national silver medalists. They have won eight Grand Prix medals (2 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze) and 16 Challenger Series medals (11 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze). They represented Italy at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics, placing 14th, 10th and 5th respectively. Their 2022 result is the 2nd best Italian placement in ice dance ever (behind only that of their coach Barbara Fusar Poli and partner Maurizio Margaglio).

The team has qualified for the 2021-22 Grand Prix Final.

Their LP. I like this program. The choreography and the music is very good. The costumes are good also but too similar to I&K costumes from their SL program. Especially Charlène's costume and headband, and also very similar to Vanessa Giunchi SL program.

I liked their Free Dance very much, too! Except maybe the costumes, but that's the least important for me, so it's all good I actually found their FD program more interesting than Anna&Luca.

I actually like the choice and the editing of the music very much. It was very well done and the music is not all from SL. They also have Abel Korzeniowski's Abdiction from the movie W.E.

I enjoyed their performances throughout the season. I was touched by their Schindler's list FD at Skate Canada and Worlds.

Charlène has been enrolled as "police guard". It's typical in Italy for top athletes in not professional sports to be enrolled in an army corps in order to get a monthly salary. Starting January 2017, Guignard will join the Polizia Penitenziaria (Penitentiary Police) and in particular the Fiamme Azzurre group (which is the sport club of PP). Cappellini, Lanotte, Kostner and Hotarek (Marchei is in another police force) are already part of it.

I actually expected Fabbri to be recruited too. Some months ago I saw the call by Justice Ministry to recruit 18 athletes for Polizia Penitenziaria with 2 spots for "Ice Sports- Discipline: Ice Dance, 1 man and 1 woman". I immediately thought it was obviously designed for Guignard/Fabbri. This week they announced 17 names as new recruitments with Charlene listed but not Marco.
