I have to admit I like the program a lot performed by the new team despite the swapping controversies. Even first listening to their music before seeing their performance, I felt this program is going to be a success and they indeed pulled it off. The music is so catchy to ears and very unique in its own. The program is also so well choreographed and reveals the new team's lovely character with a lot of comical scenes. In addition, it has been a while to see a big bright smile from Cheng.

Who choreographed the program, Lori Nicole or David Wilson?

I love this program. She's one of those skaters that once the program starts I can't take my eyes off of her :

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the program is gonna be one of my favorites this season too. Cheng also looks very happy and pleased with the new partnership considering her radiant smiles throughout the program. She seems content with her FS outing given her candid reaction toward her new partner after their first showing of the new FS. I hadn't thought of her as such a charming and adorable skater until she was arranged to skate with Yang. I hope they make a great success.

Coach Zhao has stressed how well Chen is doing with Yang, with good communication and more confidence. Partnering with Hao was stressful for her, and apparently her playful personality shows better with Yang, with no generation gap. She was selected among many Pairs girls to be Hao's partner and was much appreciated as a talent. Coach Zhao found the partnership not working as well as he liked and thus the switch, which was portrayed by some zealous fans as Zhang centric for the sake of the selfish old man but it could just as easily interpreted as a move to save Chen's career and ensure her success.

OTOH, Xiaoyu is doing the lyrical programs really well with Hao. Their LP is especially beautiful. I wish both teams great success.

Did you watch the same program as I did? Because there is no emotional connection whatsoever between them. he is like a cold fish.

Xiaoyu is the one being expressionless, certainly not joyful. It looks like she is still unhappy about the switch despite saying she would take it positively and give it her best effort. Effort wise she probably does train hard with such good showing but emotionally she seems to not have accepted the switch.

Her sentiments are understandable. However, for her own success, she needs to accept the change, which offers its own opportunities and rewards, and focus on a successful partnership. Figure skating is like a business monopoly, with the federation being the only company in the country. The alternatives are to quit or to change employer in which case it means changing nationality. This applies to all countries, with different degrees of company investments and sponsorships and proportionate individual freedom.

I wish her and her new partnership great success.

eta. I don't wish to and won't continue discussion of a different team on this thread, which is about Peng and Jin.

I am so so looking forward to Cup of China to see Peng Cheng shine in her and Jin's programs. I just can't wait! Peng is extremely capable. I noticed her tremendous skills even when she first appeared with Zhang at Trophee EricBompard, I think 2012. Oh! I just can't wait!

Me too. She's probabaly my favourite pairs skater to have come out of China. They were obviously trying to gel in their first season together, but I thought when Peng and Zhang got used to each more in their second season, the beauty of Peng's skating really started to shine. The Yellow River concerto LP was nothing ground breaking choreogrpahically by any means, but I was moved by her expressiveness every time they skated that program. Unfortunately things strarted to unravel in the following season. In a way I'm selfishly glad that the partner swap happened because there was always the worry over who the promising Peng could possibly be paired up with once Zhang is done with his career. But now she has a partner that she could potentially stay together for a long time and fulfill her poromise. I really hope P/J will go on to be successful.

I totally agree with you, Shine!

Those two programs choreographed by Lori Nichol - SP - 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' and the LP - 'Yellow River Concerto' were masterpieces. They are my all time favorites!! I can still remember the costumes as well. That matching 'lime green/aqua' dress with sparkles looked absolutely gorgeous on Peng. I was totally blown away.

Now that Peng is paired with Jin, you can see she is skating with total confidence from the movements of her arms and landings on the throws. Her jumps were also spot on! Cup of China has finally come! Oh! I can't wait!
