Comments on ESPN coverage

In contrast, I thought that all the commentators, and Kurt Browning in particular went out of their way to point out, in their not so subtle ways, Johnny's *gayness.* Johnny's modeling jobs have as little to do with this sporting event as who Evan is or isn't dating. IMO, Kurt's comments about Johnny's modeling in high heels, etc. were over the top.

Maybe I'm overly sensitive, but my STRONG impression after all of this was that the USFSA is trying hard to position Evan as "our heterosexual star" and Johhny as "our crazy gay guy." It just plain shouldn't matter.

All this stuff is real awful. The main thing is that for those who watch and enjoy figure skating as a sport all this fluff and talks about Johnny's sexuality and Evan&Tanith dating mean nothing. It's obvious US Figure Skating Federation and american commentators don't like Johnny. They are always trying to make people believe that Johnny is a bad person and he isn't worth liking while Evan is.I can't say it for sure because I watched Japanise broadcast of Johnny's LP but a friend of mine said that one american commentator burst out laughing when Johnny fell. It's real bad.
Here is the article that I guess might be interesting.

I read the article and I am not pleased at the reactions of some people towards Weir.Johnny is what he is. If it bothers anyone then go on to other sports. There are hundreds. He's an excellent male figure skater, and it would do good for everyone to judge his skating rather than their perception of him.

BTW. Which commentator laughed when he fell?

I don't know.I can't see american broadcast because that link doesn't work for me.But I bet it wasn't Dick Button.

Nicholas Benton's blog/newspaper has been pushing the "USFS hates Johnny" line for more than a year now. Mr. Benton's is not the only point of view.

I am surprised to hear the USFS would approve of any negitivity towards Johnny let face it, if he skates well he could be world champion. Does it always have to do with rating and money, what about the skaters don't they deserve support from thier own federation!!!!
