Will Delobel and Scheonfelder skating late and Belbin and Agosto skating early result in an insurmountable lead for the former? Will both of the second two couples in the first two groups make the OD? Will Brent Bommentre's bag miraculously show up before he and Kimberly Navarro have to skate?
Unfortunately, I'll be missing most of it...

Cd

I am currently watching the compulsory dance...I can't really offer any play-by-play since my technical knowledge is not good, but here are some general observations and comments.

First group has finished and we have started the second. From group 1, Weaver and Poje are currently in the lead; I never heard of the other 3 couples (Chinese, Bulgarian, and Uzbek, all of them at their first worlds if I understand the Norwegian commentator correctly).

I haven't watched compulsories in competition since Nagano 1998, and I am really fascinated by the different styles/personalities that each couple bring to the same dance.

Tanith Belbin just fell, I am shocked!!!

I cannot believe that they fell. They will most likely at least be in 3rd with Delobel and Schoenfelder from France and Virtue and Moir from Canada still to come.

This could do it in for them all ready. I hope this doesn't cost them the Gold Medal

She fell in the middle of the second pattern. When I rewatched it, I saw that she fell while completing a turn (3 turn?) and while they were making a change in hand holds and did NOT trip over Ben's skates. She looks like she simply lost an edge. Ben could not catch her because they were seperated. She recovered quickly though.

Don't think this will cost them too much! Look at the PCS mark it was boosted up to make up for the fall. They will probably still be in 2nd place overall. I always thought a fall should effect the the PCS marks too but not in this case.

but ou can look at the performance score. it is absolutely impacted! it is just 7.4

I really hope this doesn't put them out of the running for the Gold Medal

Belbin and Agosto are the U.S. best chances for a gold medal

Thanks!
This fault make me so faint.

The Norwegian commentator said that B/A were really lucky that she did not fall on a twizzle, the implication being that the technical score would not be (strongly) affected. I agree with jcoates, it looked like she just lost an edge.

Some people note that B/A are not strong compulsory dancers, so they are accustomed to making up ground in the OD and FD. I wonder how wide the point spread will be between them and the leaders after the CD - feasible enough to make up in the next 2 phases of the competition and win the whole thing?

Everyone seems to be scoring their season's best here - is this normal?

It may be lower than the other PCS marks but it is still higher then it has been this season. And that's with a fall! In fact they scored just a bit lower then they did at Cup of China! Now that's what I call being held up!
