I'm staying with the Russians. I'm just letting you guys know that there is actual skating happening right now, just in case anybody wants to watch something other than intervews that are being shown at the moment.

Third time the charm? I dunno. They very pointedly refused to allow Bukin to participate in the Olympics twice. IOC/ISU has something on him that is more serious than current geoathletical situation.

Weren's they at Beijing? Finishing respectable 6th?

I think the isolation of Russians from international feedback shows the most in the rhythm dance. Put many of those team in front of the harsh technical panels we've seen this season and I think there would be quite a few ! calls or deductions. Or just general lukewarm scoring because of music choices not being sufficiently "high energy".

I thought Kaganovskaia & Nekrasov were the stand outs. They have that star quality and really interesting choreography.

I don't think exactly ! calls would be the case, ChRS criteria is somewhat followed.

Or just general lukewarm scoring because of music choices not being sufficiently "high energy".

That could have happened, and I think some teams would have to change their dances during the season. Although, if you're talking about M/U, the irony is that their rhythm dance was done in the US entirely.

They were supposed to be the alternates for the Beijing qual so they are well-prepared. Although even in this context I'm surprised because I didn't like their dances last season.
