Dance - Free Dance

i wish I understood dance - the French team seems so creative and innovative and crips - I don't understand how they were behind tanith and ben

Goosebumps

I just watched the competition on tv. The fact that Virtue and Moir are in 6th is proof that this sport remains to be about "game playing". How the heck did B&A beat them with THAT dance???!!! (I am a B&A fan but not this year's program and not that skate.)

They are the absolute class of the field and I would say this if they were from Russia, France, US or anywhere. They simply float across the ice and they have a greater connection than anyone. They make everything look so effortless. They gave me goosebumps and they brought tears to my eyes. I can't believe they are only 17 and 19. Once the judges "allow" them to get to the top, they will be hard to beat. I've never seen a team like this. They deserve to be at the top now.

Wearing fur cost them!

24 Oksana DOMNINA / Maxim SHABALIN RUS
Polovetsian Dances him in dark blue with fur and her in light blue
PB 100.39 TES 49.62 PCS 46.19 tot 95.81 gr tot 193.44 5th in FD 5th overall
Lev 3 - spin, dia step, circ steps / lev 4 - rest

I can't believe how ugly his costume was and wearing fur. I am so glad they didn't get a medal and they should ban that kind of outfit from this sport!

I do have to say, Albena's hair has never looked better.

And Tanith looks good as a brunette, mind you she's so gorgeous, she'd suit any hair colour.

I found dancing was sort of boring. I actually liked the young Canadian pair V/M the best. Their technique is far more superior to teams such as D/L.

D/L's lifts are great, but I found them quite slow doing those turns.

I really liked V/M too and the american team D/W - I could watch them twizzle all day long.

I well remember ATS April Sargent competing as an icedancer back in the early 90s, but the TS Andrzej Dostatni I honestly have never heard of.

Does anyone have any info on him or his credentials and background? I don't even know his nationality?

Andrzej Dostatni is originally from Poland, but he is now a US citizen. I don't know his figure skating background.

Congratulations, D/S!!! I just love their skating, so passionate and powerful and beautiful! V/M of Canada is a joy to watch. They are so good. I can never get the American team B/A, don't think they belong there.

I wonder if Dom&Shab weren't elevated to the podium because the judges think the number 2 Russian team will outclass them shortly. I'm really impressed with that number 2 team (names eluding me right now). I think they're going to be a force to be reckoned with some day soon.

Khokhlova/Novitski are an interesting team, but their moves look more like Pairs than Ice Dance, and their programs overuse her flexibility to the point that he becomes nearly invisible.

This year, K/N finished ahead of two teams who beat them last year (Gregory/Petukhov and Faiella/Scali), but in turn Virtue/Moir and Davis/White, two brand new Senior teams, passed them.

That does not bode well for K/N, unless the results of this Worlds are due to the fact that the Russians were not on the panel, nor were any of the former SSR judges that usually support Russian teams.

I disagree that they belong on anything stupid...

but I did miss their costumes from earlier this season...

Hi-5 emma
hi-5!!!!
i understand dance....i think i do....but yeah
belbin/agosto had a spectacular but overscored OD...
on the other hand delobel/schoenfelder had a point deduction either due to an overtimed lift or an "illegal" hold

the americans are one of those teams that just dance and have that passion people seem to look for...
delobel and schoenfelder are just crazy creative like the masquerade gloves of 2006, this years guns and tiny details that INTERPRET the program of spies...(opening...stealing something.....the car chase footwork...closing pose = escaping....)
but are put down due to that fact that "they don't have chemistry" but really during the part where isabelle gets shot....that whole section was pure emotion and musicality
they are also incosistent....except at EUROS....

i dont get why those americans are ahead of them....i dont get why the canadians are first.....messy overall....except the 1st one...."bedlift...."
i know its very ice dance and passionate....but not that great.....

my opinions.....(dont tke them personally....den/sta fans)

You know something? When I saw Meryl and Charlie for the first time this fall during the Skate Canada coverage, I was impressed, but thought they still had a way to go. Well...I can't get over how far they've come since SC. Wow oh wow!! Dad said Meryl looks like a beautiful porcelean doll w/her facial colouring and structure. I can't help but agree w/him.

I just wish you could have seen the slo mo replay of their twizzles. Those things were fast even in slo mo!!

My one itty bitty nikpik and this truly is that, is I wish Meryl had coiled up her braid at the nape of her neck. Reason being is it kept distracting me and taking my eyes away from their performance from time to time. But that is truly being nitpicky. ;)

Just as D/L w/V/M if they decide to stay, I think B/A had better start looking over their shoulders at these two. They're coming up and fast!!

Also Congratulations to Weaver and Poje. For a pair that only got together in August, had their eyes on Junior Worlds and ended up not only doing that and winning the bronze, but also going to Senior Worlds...They've had a pretty incredable first season together. :D

stupid's a bit too strong....silly?
stereotypical tacky fig skting oufits?

their old ones work with the earth fairy feel....(adam and eve thing)
with touches of flesh; an allusion to nudity

Are you talking about Tanith and Ben? If anything, passion is one of the components that they have been missing this year.
