Dance - Free

Tracy as Tracy Wilson?? She's doing com for US?
OMG, no wonder I was wondering where did she go...she was with Kurt doing the women, then suddenly disappeared...wow, that lady has 2 jobs?

she's worked the US commentary for Ice Dance since 1992... wherever Scott Hamilton commentates she seems to come as part of the package  he fought to have her on the team at CBS, and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't push to add her to the NBCUniversal team.

Ded was for a too long lift, I guess. At least it's what their coach suggested in the K&C

I think what came down between B/A and D/S is the programs. D/S had much more intricate and better looking program. Of course D/S skated better too, but that probably wasn't that much of a factor.

Heh. Is that podium made out of ice blocks? I noticed that during the men's ceremony last night and thought it was odd.

ETA: I agree that there was something a little flat about Ben and Tanith...the crowd sensed it...normally they give a gigantic cheer and standing ovation for the programs they really love, but people didn't start standing up until a few moments after the program ended. For Meryl and Charlie, they flew up even before the program was done. That's the difference between a really passionate program and one that's a bit flat.

So big and dramatic just doesn't work for Tanith and Ben. Here's to finding the perfect fit for the Olympics...if anything, they need their last competitive program to be their very best, medals aside.

I just hope now that the Russians have won we don't have that incredibly frustrating dynasty thing going on, where they'll win everything they enter from now on, no matter what happens on the ice. The last several years have been the most exciting I've ever seen in dance, largely due to the fact that the outcomes of competitions really were undecided and any one of 4-5 teams were in the running and it came down to the actual skates. That's how it should be. Whenever the Russians have hit the top of the podium in the past, that has all gone away. Here's hoping the rivalries continue.

Oh no, I really hope that doesn't happen. Ice dancing has improved so much this quadrennial, I don't want it to revert back to its pre-2007 ways.

Tracy said that B&A only got level 3 instead of 4 on the twizzles and that was the difference.

ok why are we getting a look at Tan and Ben's FD again on Oxygen, they didn't do that for anyone in pairs or men ???

Well...I admire Tessa and Scott for literally pulling a rabbit out of a hat w/everything they've been through this season, but this was a gift. A nice gift, but still a gift.

I didn't care at all for Tanith and Ben's program. Whomever said it was heavy had it dead on!! They just don't do heavy serious pieces at all well, so whichever one of the team came up w/them doing Tosca needs their head examined.

I can't say anything about D/S because I had to leave the room to check on the fire in our woodstove and it was close to being out. By the time I got flames going again, they were in the KnC. Will watch it later and then be back.

Meryl and Charlie certainly did serve notice though. That was my favourite FD of the season and they performed it lights out tonight. But to be off the podium by such a close margin...That's got to hurt a wee bit.

Still...It was a pretty good night of FD's!!

Because NBC thinks they wuzrobbed? Universalsports is showing a montage of the three medalists with the same music they play during EVERY break during this entire freakin' World competition. I seriously know it by heart now.

ETA: Some more thoughts. Remember, this is the first time I've seen most of these people skate before, and definitely the first time I've seen any of these programs. Out of all the couples, Meryl and Charlie impressed me the most...fourth, and by such a close margin too. These will be the folks who will take over as as the US's star team once Tanith and Ben retire, although it looks like they're pushing for it already. More power to them! They're fun and cute and that program was just THEM.

I'm just wondering if an American team will ever win Worlds. It won't be B&A now, but then who will it be? I'd like to think Meryl and Charlie, but with K&N going back down I suspect they and V&M will dominate after Vancouver; Meryl and Charlie might get stuck with the bronzes. The deepest ice dancing field in the world, yet they can't seem to win a major title. How long will it take?

I can bet $1000 that S/B one day will be World Champions.

Okay, is anyone else pissed that Oxygen is opting to re-air Belbin/Agosto's FD in its entirety rather than interviewing Domnina/Shabalin, Virtue/Moir, and Davis/White. What is that all about? The only team Oxygen pretended to give a damn about in the end was Tanith/Ben. An interview and a re-airing of their full performance. :banging:

Hmm. It possibly had something to do with the fact that:

- Tanith and Ben should have won
- Tanith and Ben actually had an interesting program, unlike the Russians
- Oxygen is a US channel and the US audience cares more about the US team that should have won than being smacked in the face one last time by the team that shouldn't have won

Let me know if you want me to continue that list for you.
