Dancing With The Stars

Joe, must be an eastern pronounciation of bought. We pronounce it like bot. baht. There is no r in it here.
I've wondered how your knees are by now. Do you have trouble telling them what to do?

Finally got a chance to watch it last night. How can we get to Apollo Ono and tell him to switch to figure skating?

Joe
:agree: Was thinking the same thing.:agree: Maybe Apolo will just "get a knack" for it and do it on his own.;)

Now that I saw it again, Apolo was amazing me (still hard to keep my eyes on him;) ) although I don't know ballroom like some here, anyone could tell his motions and steps were FANTASTIC. There was one part I saw their knees out of sync with each other, but other than that I thought it was perfect - ah yes perrrrrrrfect.

Now was the "tiger costume" (becoming a fan of animal prints again all the sudden:love: ) really classified as a "dress" or was that something else?

Apolo's girlfriend must feel very secure with their relationship. Maybe Layla's Beau could take a hint from her.

Did you notice how Clyde pumped his fist when he got voted off? Like, yeah, finally I can get back to my golf game -- what has America been smoking to keep me on this long?

Dancing with the stars

Clyde might be happy to get back to his golf game, but not nearly as joyous as the viewing public. Great call America.

Now let's get rid of Billy and the real competition can begin.

A happy fan.

Dizzy

As hard as it is to concentrate on Apolo when the lovely Julianne is there - 80's finger-in-the-lightsocket hair or not - he did an AWESOME Samba!!!
I'm thinking that being a skater, he might have the best physical conditioning for dancing, especially fast, energetic dancing.
And with a partner like that for inspiration, how can you not excel??!!
Completely impossible to focus on Fat Boy with Kym Johnson in the picture. I think he did ok, but I could be wrong.....;)
Clyde's an ok choice to go, poor Elena really was saddled with a pretty impossible task here, but really, it's a total toss-up between him, John Ratzenberger and Billy Ray.
They all suck rocks sideways.
Also, I'm not sure it is understood that it's supposed to be the celebrities who are to be judged, not the pros.
We know that Ms's Sliwinska, Grinkova and Smirnoff are great.......
Is this a 'sex sells' sort of thing?
Not exactly sure why poor John (?) had to have his chest hair ripped off to 'look more latin' (???), did they simply run out of footwork gimmicks for Heather?
Speaking of gimmicks, bringing Laila's fiancé in was cute (yeah....), but I couldn't help the feeling that Mr. Chmerkovsky could take him if he gets mad enough......
It seems fairly obvious at this point that Laila is 'scheduled' to win, if this was an actual competition, it would probably come down to Ian and Apolo.

Thank you for caring, Granny. The knees have no pain but do get stiff. Now the arthritis is getting into the hips. I've been told after the hips it'll be the shoulders. Not easy getting old. I wish they had given me artificial springs in the knees so I could work on a Quad Lutz. :)
Joe

Joe

I have been told the hips replacements aren't nearly as bad as the knees as the knees are the weight bearers. Hopefully, you won't need it. I have a friend that has had all her hips, knees & shoulders replaced. She's a little younger than I but sure in a lot worse shape. Plans to go to an assisted living place when it is finished. Haven't started building it yet, I don't think.

Caught almost everything on the rerun last night, but the second part where they booted someone off didn't watch all of it. Been watching who wants to be a Pussycat Doll so I have to keep flipping channels.
Clid was happy to go and like what he told the judges on how they talk down to the stars, he was right there not dancers but out therr giving it their all and should get some respect for that.
So who's next Heather, Billy or John?

*snort* As for Jonathan and his waxing--GOOD! 'Bout time the man had to get tortured. (I have been asked to wax, shave, pluck, dye, spray and otherwise fuss so it's nice to see the guys do something besides just slap on the fake tan.)

Get rid of John, then Heather (sympathy vote.) But it'll probably be Billy Ray next. The judges at least understand who's being judged, but then that's how pro-am competition in ballroom works, you are judged while your pro is just there to run things for you. As for viewers, who knows?

Why so much Latin--well, going by ABC's bios, all the pros seem to be Latin specialists! (Though I'm not sure it's accurate--Tony does American Rhythm, which is admittedly kinda like Latin only not, and Brian Fortuna did ten-dance...)

As for sexy partners being inspiring, possibly my personal bias is showing, but it's best not to be involved with your dance partner, unless you are REALLY serious about them. Even then--one of my instructors is getting married this weekend. His soon-to-be wife dances with my OTHER instructor. In a high-pressure short term like this situation in particular, I could see some major crash and burn coming. It's really best not to think about your partner that way at all. (At our studio, it's actually a rule for the instructors, if you become involved with a student, you are no longer their pro and do not teach them or compete with them, end of discussion. Arthur Murray's contract is apparently even harsher--they forbid any and all socializing between students and teachers.) You have to be able to walk away from them. Otherwise, things bleed over, and when blowups happen, they end up ruining both relationships.

I think next week, all the contestants will be involved in a group dance. I hope Jonathan does the choreography. He did one number for the group early on and, imo, it was as good as one would see on Broadway.

But I think he and Heather are rushing off to England. I guess to check up on the divorce settlement. I think heather will be next to get the axe.

Joe

I liked the group number, fun but a little sloppy at the end. The line up of lifts was off - "ability of" in what order. Apolo has very strong legs. mine would have probably broken on one of those moves.

Apolo was great again tonight.

I hope Heather goes this week.

The Swing routine looked like a lot of fun.

When are they going to get the camera work right?

:agree: FS and Dancing, they never seem to get it right.:scowl: Maybe a new career path? - well still a crusade anyway.

Yep. I've gone off on tirades about it at work. I e-mailed Disson Skating once complaining that the show is _____ On Ice, not 'Latin Dancers' on Ice. I always hate when they show the singers and dancers for about 50% and the actual skating for 50%. Oops - there I go again.

Speaking of Clyde Drexler, do you know that ABC figure skating commentator Terry Gannon's team (North Carolina State) beat Drexler's team (Houston) for the 1983 NCAA basketball championship?

I think it will be John this week = I wouldn't mind seeing Billy Rae go = he may be a good singer= but as a dancer ???

I bett you are right, I would also feel most satisfaction if Billy boy went. When he is so obviously over involved in other projects especially. He looks like he is just goofy to me. John may not get those bones moving as well, but he has so much heart and integrity. The guy just says "I care about what I try." Reminds me of grandpa Howdy.

My send home list -
Billy
Heather
John

(As of now, things could change fore seeing improvements)
Joey - I would miss Kim
Ian - oh that hurts, sorry Cheryl:love: I always miss her
Laila
Apolo wins
Things could change :agree:

It won't be Heather this week. This is how I am thinkg John, Billy, Heather, Ian, Joey and a close win between Layla & Apolo.

Jahr, you and I were both wrong. I am not shocked tough. I am done with the "drama" she brought. Dancing with the Stars and Disney - well 'nof said.;) Him and John might have one more upset in them.

Ian just can't show fun. ?? I don't see how that was the best criticism for that dance, but is is surprising that 2nd week in a row and he hasn't been able to show "fun." I would be to giddy dancing with her I don't see how they aren't telling him to calm down:laugh:

The un-aired "confessions" on their site are fun to watch. I don't know if anyone checks them out, but.... Well Kim explains she understands what "randy" means;) And did they air the part about Ian stealing one of the 10 paddles from the judges? I guess he has fun, just can't show it.

Laila, not as good as I was expecting. ???? Bummer that she might have her first "Defeat" based on her footwork. How "ironical"

Apolo is officially a dancer IMO. There is nothing I don't just love about his performances or even personality on the set. What a great team.

Now to let the qualified posters give their responses.
