Daria Panenkova

Dasha, well ...

to be honest I dont really know what to say about Panik.
I have somehow the feeling, that she just remained as an "accident" at the Eteri-team.
There was a big cleaning the previous year and the "trash" was sorted out.
However, this girl has boobs, and is evolving into a young little women, which shows, that she is AFTER the notorious Eteri-strategy and she is still delivering a good program. So I am also pretty sure, that she has a future. (Pretty unsure in Russia, tho)

What this girl makes really lovable, is that she can be very happy about small little things. I remember one of her periscopes, where she streamed her "Russian Team"-Jacket, which she got as present. I think that day she started 4 or 5 streams presenting that jacket and her smile would have made even the Joker jealous.

There was also a happy post about her 1000th follower on instagram, while her teammates (Zagi, Medve,Pokahontas, etc) are much ahead ...

I dont really know hoe to judge this girl. Some kind of sad clown. Maybe she should make a program like this. Anything is better she is skating now ...

Daria was 6th and now she's 7th as (probably) judges didn't notice that Vasiljeva had jumped her 2A in 2nd part of the program and fixed the score later. This shows a quality of judging...
Nevermind. Go Daria! You still have a chance, girl!

I don't know why the user before me was banned but i feel the same, Daria seems understimated by her team. She need to improve on artisti level but she's very strong overall, very clean. They need to focus on her and i'm sure she'll show what she is capable of.
Maybe is because her nature, she seems very shy, introvert, and the only (but big) problem is she's not very good at showing her emotion when she skate. She need to believe in herself, but first she need to find someone who belive in her.

Go Dasha!

Her insanely low PCS is such a joke. Based on performances today and in the past, she deserves to be third and on the JWC team. Not fifth.

OK, she was in Sofia recently and she won there, so why not send her once more, to JWC for instance?
:)
I'm trying to joke, but my heart is bleeding. It's not enough to be talented, hard working and enthusiastic to win Russian judges (and clearly coaches as well) attention. If you are not a prodigy - God bless you, but we kick you out.
Seriously, how it is possible that she - with clean perfomance of a program of almost highest difficulty (but when forget one misfortunate 4S - the most difficult) can land on 5th place? How it is possible that after last JN, where she was 5th with exactly the same program, no coach (and she has three of them...) thought about paying attention on execution and skating quality nor shifted the elements up? She is a willing jumper, why not give her 3Lz3Lo or any other Lz combination? Today she gained 3 GOE and 2 PCS pts more than in 2017, after a year of intensive training - while Alena got 15 GOE and 15 PCS pts more than last year; even taking into account that Alena is a prodigy, the gap seems too big.
And what is more painful? She really needs her coaches attention but a honeymoon is visibly over - no hugs, smiles nor photos cheek to cheek this year.

But let's stay positive. There is new JGP series and new wins ahead her. And I don't know where JWC 2019 will take place, but maybe in some nice city Daria hasn't been to yet :)

They want to move her to seniors next season, btw. I don't know how many gp events she will get - but I am sure at least one is guaranteed through her coach influence. Therefore it's not that she need to win this badly.

She's 21st on the SB list right now, so if GP spots were handed out today she'd get 2.
Plus two of the girls ahead of her aren't senior eligible next year so that's more like 19th...

Darya is a good jumper, but for a generation before. For the quad after Korea, the girls are expected to jump quads and 3Axel.
And honestly, she's not the most eye catching skater there, she doesn't have the musicality and grace of Kostornaya, for example, or the softness of Gubanova. So it's hard to find some tricks for her to stand out in such a busy field as the Russian ladies.
I agree that the programs don't suit her, not that they aren't good per se, but they don't show her strenghts.

You are right about the "eye catching". But I highly doubt that quads and 3A will become a standard. Jumps aren't everything. After all, Rika's first ever 3A in combination didn't even bring her a medal at JGPF..

Yes, but I think this is what Russian Fed is looking for the new quad and is willing to promote... or skaters like Kostornaya, very artistic that public loves.

I had no idea that she is to move to seniors after just one JGP season. If I'm not mistaken, that will be first such a case among Eteri's girls that a skater moves to seniors not winning an international or even national champion title previously.
Daria dreamed about this JWC and it's quite uderstandable. Paradoxically, it would be easier for her to medal in JWC than in JGPF.

One swallow doesn't make a summer ;) Sasha's 4S is still not landed in a competition. And Rika's 3A costed her too much to get really good score in total. I don't think that during next 10 years these jumps would really count. 30 years after first man's quad there are still strong contenders without quads.

Of course, she lacks a lot. But she is the only flawless Russian lady this season. Her only mistake in GP, GPF, RN and previous and last JRN was edge calling on flip. I don't remember another such reliable skater. So it's difficult to understand why her routine remained the same for two seasons. Junior skaters develope their skills through new challenges. While a new dress was everything she got this season. That's why I feel so sad for her.
Alena is a jewel, with no doubts. But when I saw them both live, I fully appreciated Alena's mastery, but it was Daria who caught my attention as she was incredibly fast, precise and determined. If she was able to sell her awkward FS, imagine how good she could be in something more suitable.

Well, that's not correct. She had a pop and a fall in her free skate at JGP Riga. But except that, yeah, she was quite consistent.

Daria should be fairly safe to stay in the top 24 SB list now that she's still #21 after 4CC and Euros... the 3 skaters who might potentially get ahead of her are Mirai Nagasu, Karen Chen and Rika Kihira, but unlikely that all 3 are necessarily going to go clean...
