The ISU Council met on March 25-27, 2017 in Helsinki, Finland. The following were among the decisions taken by the Council during the meeting as well as during follow-up discussions after the meeting:

- New Provisional ISU Member
- ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating season 2017/18 and 2018/19 Calendar
- Allotment ISU Figure Skating Challenger Series *
- ISU Junior World Cup Speed Skating 2017/18
- Athletes Commission
- Starting order Short Program/Dance ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating individual events season 2017/18
- Sustainability – Good Governance
- Honorary Awards
- Ultimate Skating
- Judges Draw
- ISU Council meetings

I see that the five representatives elected to the athletes' commission are from Poland, Hungary, USA, Turkey and Sweden. I wonder if the candidates did any organized lobbying or campaigning for the job.

The first time Derang Meng, 23, ever saw snow was on the Discovery Channel. He was six years old, the only child of a single mother living with his aunt and uncle in Songkea village in Battambang province. The images entranced him. Something about the ice – so utterly alien to Southeast Asia – stuck with Meng.

“As a kid, I wanted to play in the snow, to build a snowman,” he said with a smile. “I hope one day I can see it for real." ...

I remember that Canadian champion Jennifer Robinson was involved in a project to help the homeless and victimized children of Cambodia about a decade ago. (Unrelated to figure skating, just personal kindness on the part of Robinson.)

That is awesome! Getting more off topic but I am going to Cambodia myself this summer to help the people in the north of the country. I have heard a lot about the nation since deciding to go.

Phnom-enal! (Referring to both your volunteer work, and Cambodia joining the ISU!)

Good for you! I have friends who have done the same and have had a wonderful experience.
