Thank you, Jombi! A really great performance from Denis this time.

Denis is where he was last season. Last year he received almost same PCS as one he got this year at the Golden Spin of Zagreb. It is a good sign of moving forward to the 4CC and WC as the TR PE CH IN tends to increase as the season goes.

Thank you for the SP scores table. I guess what surprised me were not so much his PC scores themselves, but, rather, how close they were with Hendrickx's PC scores, when, in theory, there should be a much larger difference. Also, his FS PCS surprised me more than the SP score, even despite the fall.

I am glad Denis put together a beautiful clean program right away though.. I don't get such a low score at the NRW, either. But I saw the beauty in the program and he gets rewarded for it a week later in Zagreb.

Yeah,, I feel you. I think it is the music and he needed more milage to fully project to the judges and the audience, IMO. As you see, Jorik Hendrickx's LP music is very, very susceptible, his program was clear and simple, and his skating was really good. In contrast, Denis' music was on the extreme end of Jorik's and the fall and some disjoints in the program were not helping the case either...

His PCS gets raised by 2.74 with a (almost) clean skate in a week. Keep up the good work, the judges cannot help but recognize his supreme qualities at the 4CC and the WC!

I don't think Denis hits his stride early in the season - which is fine for me. I would much rather see a skater do that than have a big win at Skate American or Canada and then not do well at 4CCs or Worlds - or worse not even end up competing there.

Mother of god, that step sequence was magical. Leave it to Denis when it comes to beautiful interpretation and skating skills. PCS should've been higher for this flawless short program!

Let's give the judges a little time to catch up. They were probably feeling sorry for all the guys 17 points behind. I really like both programs. To me, they have a lot of potential. I'd like to see him cut at least one of the hands-through-the-hair moves. (Kind of screams exhibition). Also the upside down camel spin position makes me nervous--like the inside spread eagle into the triple axle last season. His spins are usually so gorgeous. I worry he'll lose GEO on this. That said, I love that he keeps challenging himself. The FD looks to me like it's still developing; but I was almost afraid to watch it after reading some of the critical reactions on the competition thread. Not now. I really love a lot of it. A lot of powerful moments in there. Can't wait to see them all brought together throughout the season.

A bit more power and speed later in the season along with adding some transitions and PCS will go higher for sure. He has great posture that makes it pleasant to watch, but there are things he needs to improve in his programs, but it's still a lot time to 4CC and worlds

The judges did give him 44 PCS for his SP at 4CC. At first I assume that maybe the judges will stay consistent with that PCS and raise it up whenever he performs cleanly, but I guess I was wrong. Hopefully the next time he performs cleanly, he’ll receive more than 44 PCS because this SP really deserves it. Regarding his spins, they aren’t the best but he has more than enough time to improve them, so I’m not that worried about his progress. He’s heading in the right direction. The only thing I’m worried about is his consistency. I hope his win here can leave him feeling confident in himself and prepares him for the bigger competitions. As for his programs this season, I have no criticisms. Just like you I really love his programs this season; especially that SP. Lori Nichol did an amazing job, as always!

What a relief to see him round into form in Zagreb. He seemed to spend such a tremendous amount of time earlier in the year being one of the key point people for the Almaty Olympics bid, it must have been quite time consuming. Then to see him struggle physically and performance wise at his first GP was worrisome. Glad to see him looking fitter.

Denis Ten reminds me a lot of Paul Wylie in that even thought they both aren't tall at all (I believe Wylie is 5' 4" and Ten is 5' 6") and they don't have long limbs but they still figured out a long time ago how important posture and extension are.

I'm not saying that they are artistically the same (although both are GREAT!). They are the same in that they both look a lot taller and "more of them" on the ice than men who are considerably more taller than them.
