Denis Ten

From what I got based on (google-translated) Russian articles, his femoral artery was probably damaged/severed in the thigh stab wound. Which makes sense considering he lost 3 litres (aka 60% blood loss - way past where hermorrhage class IV begins). Sadly, if that was so probably nothing could've been done - the robbers might as well have cut his throat, the freaking monsters. I hope they get caught and punished too.

Not knowing about medicine, somehow I was hopeful they could do something for him, but reading that he was clinically dead is just so shocking.

I can´t stop thinking in his poor family, losing someone is so shocking, losing someone so young in so such tragic violent way...there are no words that I can tell to made sense of how must they feel.

So heartbreaking to be senselessly attacked in your own country. Denis seemed to be heading toward a revival. I was really hoping he would re-emerge this year. So sad. My prayers to his family, friends and the skating community for the loss of their beloved Denis.

I think he could have lived if somebody would have tied his leg above the stab wound. I am so sad, I cannot function. Did they catch the thieves? Poor Denis....
The wound was close to the groin, hard to tie off something there. And it sounds like they severed the femoral artery, it's an almost certain quick death from blood loss unless you get help immediately.

At first, when i heard the news that he was taken to hospital, I was like "ohh well, hopefully he can skate just fine after it heals" and then =((((((((((((((

I saw the news on Facebook this morning and I couldn't believe it. I'm still in shock. There are no words...

This news is so incredibly tragic. Denis is one of my favourite skaters and has contributed so much to skating, and I believe had even more to give - I'd be interested in hearing from Kurt what Denis' vision was and how the skating world can help keep it alive.

I think in the wake of such heartbreaking news it's comforting to remember how he lit up the ice and brought joy to everyone who watched him skate.

Denis Ten had a Grand Prix assignment at Rostelecom Cup, Russia. Dear fans, please bring banners for Denis- just don't make them sad- please celebrate his life and achievements with messages of love and support. Please write Thank You Denis! We will always remember you! There will be a lot of athletes who will compete at that event- those who were his friends, those who knew him and loved him. Fill arena with love messages, not grieving ones for athletes to celebrate his life in sport by great skates in his memory.

You are right. But... maybe it would be hard for those skaters who have to skate there...

Although I never really connected with his skating, I was impressed by his perseverance through all his injuries, and all that he did for skating in Kazakhstan - he literally put them on the map in terms of the sport. And he was such an active, multitalented guy - putting on large scale ice shows, making music, etc. His photography was really great. His photo Insta page (includes some excellent shots of other skaters):
