Hours later and I’m still in shock and really want to cry which I can’t do because I’m at work and need to hold it together. I don’t know if it’s because Denis and I were the same age or because I loved his skating and followed him closely on social media, but this has really shaken me. I feel as if through his art I knew him in some way and I’m so sad I’ll never see him skate again.

One of the things I will remember the vividly about Dennis is that he really embodied the phrase 'giving back to the sport' which gets thrown around a lot at successful skaters, but was a concept that he lived and breathed.
From his show, working hard to promote interest in the sport in parts of the world unfamiliar to it, being a true ambassador for figure skating, to the respect he showed his own personal craft with attention to detail and the effort he put into every one of his programs. I seriously thought this guy was gonna grow to become one of 'the great' coaches and/or choreographers for the next generations. He had the passion to stay a part of figure skating for a lifetime, and he was well on his way. Damn.
We lost a true artist and promoter of the sport in such a mindbogglingly meaningless way. My thoughts are with his family, and the wider skating community.
This just makes no sense...

It's too shocking to hear the tragic news of Dennis Tenn, and I still cannot believe it's true. Dennis was a very sincere and loving figure skater. It is so sad that I lost the most passionate and talented skater. Rest in peace.

I echo all the wonderful memories that have already been shared.
I have one particular memory of a video of Denis that I suppose is out of the ordinary, but I just saw Kaitlyn Weaver reposted it on her Instagram account a few minutes ago when I went to look for the link, so many of you may have seen it now.

I believe it was originally from either 2014 or 2015, they were in a cab over in Kazakhstan during the off season, likely there for Denis’s annual show. Denis was telling a story about how they all live in the taxi cab and drive around the city all day, and the fabric on the cab’s seats was made out of a bathing suit... I know, so random, but I remember laughing really hard when I saw it, it was so cute. I love how Kaitlyn cherishes this sweet, random little memory as well.

I've been trying to wrap my head around this since I found out this morning, just shocking. What a senseless crime, I hope they're able to bring the criminals to justice.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I remember losing my dogs when I was much younger (in high school and college) and it was devastating. Hope you get some support and love from your friends and family

A quick scroll thru my Instagram feed is enough to make me cry. He touched a lot of people in a very meaningful way. I hope they name a GP event after him or something and that his icecshows can continue as a way of remembrance.
We were very lucky to have him amongst us even though it was far too short. I’m very sad and I’m just not sure how you move forward after something like this.

And thanks to the times, much of it can be not only remembered by those who saw him, and listed by those who write the history but will be there online for everyone to see and appreciate from half a world away.
My thoughts go to his family, friends and countrymen.

Today a wonderful, talented, kind person was robbed from this earth. My heart goes out to his family and friends. He was far too young for such a hasty death. This senseless crime proves that even the best, kindest people are not immune to the evil in the world. I hope that he will rest peacefully.
Well said. Too many young men and women athletes on this forum have received extremely unkind words. Would people say it to their face or would they appreciate these words if it was their own child. This is a moment of reflection on kindness,

In the past, like posters do when there is a competition like with all skaters... you know "he doesn´t have skating skills" "jumps are bad" "so and doesn ´t have a proper lutz"

Does it really matter? He was well known for his Olympic medal, but alas football always wins. But I think everybody who knows just a bit of winter sports will be devastated. As I am, and I've never even been to Kazachstan.
Wow, I just read this and all I could of was "What, how can this be?" :sad21: I'm so sorry and deeply saddened to hear about this. And I certainly hope they catch those people that did this.

RIP Denis, we'll never forget you! Of course not. I am so sad, still, Denis did so much to put Kazakstan on the map. It's sad and ironic. I know figure skating is not as popular as many other sports.

This is so sad and cruel. A senseless vile crime. My deepest condolences to Denis's family, relatives and to the skating world. Reast in peace Denis.

The impression I have gotten from Kazakstani posters/people online is that he was very famous in Kazakstan and the entire country is devastated over this.
(I said I was going to quit the internet for tonight but I lied I guess.)
