Do you ever use the "Media" portion of the forum?

They are buried for a reason. They have been much harder to find and get deleted this way.

This defeats the purpose of the Media section however? A thread should never be "buried" and "hard to find" anyway.

@gsk8 would it be possible to be able to get some more organization for the media section? I think the media section does serve a great use in archiving figure skating, but it can sometimes be a bit hard to navigate especially if you're just looking at one thread with hundreds of videos in it.

Another idea I've had for a while would be the ability to post Internet Archive links in the media section, since stuff gets taken down from YouTube all the time, although I do understand this would probabaly be a lot harder and much more complicated to implement.

What do you mean by "looking at one thread with hundreds of videos"? Do you mean a post? Can post a link of an example?

Posting archives is fine, but first we need to establish the feasibility/usage of our current media section.

Posting archives is fine, but first we need to establish the feasibility/usage of our current media section.

If you look at the media section for an event, there isn’t any sorting or folders. So if you look at the media section for let’s say, a world championships, all the videos from that world championships are in one “folder” with no sorting of any kind. I think it would be nice if we had separate folders at least for each discipline, if not for each program within each discipline (ie. Men’s Short, Free Dance, etc.). and then perhaps a folder for the exhibition and maybe one for interviews or something.

Not only would it make the archive significantly easier to navigate, but it would also make it easier to tell what videos are missing so we could add those and truly create a more useable figure skating archive.

I do hope you guys aren’t planning to get rid of the archive entirely…
