Do You Like to Know Results First or Watch and Be Surprised?

With all the media coverage and technical advantages there are now, one can pretty much find out the results of any skating event before even watching. I still like to watch each discipline without knowing any results. I have to resist checking things out here and looking on other sites or reading the newspaper. I love the element of surprise with each skater. Of course, watching it on tv is not as good as being there. However, one can still enjoy the anticipation of the outcome.

How do you folks feel? Do you cheat and check ahead or just wait?

Being a big skating fan living in the USA, I have to spoil myself. Considering events typically broadcast here 2 weeks after they occur or not at all, I don't have that much patience to wait and surprise myself when it finally airs on television. I usually watch whatever clips show up on youtube shortly after the competitions and then I normally record them whenever they are finally aired on TV.

I can't wait long enough for the tv version -- I keep the results page online and keep refreshing to see how things are playing out! Makes slow results really feel slow.....Then I watch the tv broadcast and know what skaters I can leave the room for...

Depends on the competitions and whos skating. For example, I can even think about waiting for like, TEB or any other competition that isn't live. And, I always keep up to date with what sections of Nationals/Worlds will be shown on TV whether live or a day or so later, and then I make sure to stay away from those spoilers

I try very hard to remain unspoiled until the events air in my area (East Coast)...So I often stay off the skating forums during big events like Nat's, World's and Olympics.

I was so mad at myself for watching the news during the '98 Oly's...I saw a report that Ilia had won Gold in mens.

It just isn't the same watching it if I know the results. I like to "pretend" I'm seeing it "live".

I always keep up with the results first.
Being surprised is nice, but all that anxiety, heartburn, and sweating of waiting around is just not worth it!

But that is half the fun!!! Plus sitting on the edge of your seat and then jumping up and clapping until your hands turn red!!!

:clap::clap::clap::clap:

Yes, wouldn't that be nice.... :biggrin:

But how often does that happen?
Had I not learned the result of the Ladies at 98 Olympics first but instead watched it as if on realtime, I would've had a heart attack!

Ugh, I had a sinking feeling inside from the moment I heard the spoiler. Fate sure does work in mysterious and bewildering ways.

Gotta agree with Ladskater!!! Anticipation is often as much fun as the event...no matter skating, vacation or whatever! I love the build up of the anticipation!

for me it depends. If it is the GP i can wait... worlds and nats on the other hand... the suspense would kill me.
