Hey guys, my doctor is sending me to a specialist at OSU because he thinks I might have lupus. Does anyone have any experience with this disease? I'm trying to gather as much information as I can just for my peace of mind....:frown:

I don't know a thing about it, really, but I wanted to let you know you're in my prayers! Keep us updated!

I don't know much other than it's an autoimmune disease. I usually scour the internet, starting with Yahoo health. Read, read, read and read some more is what I do. Good luck!

Make sure you go to a rheumatologist. I know of a friend of mine and it is very serious. It goes with all those auto-immune diseases. That's what I go to for my arthritis, fibromyalgia, ankylosing spondilitis, among others. There are varying degrees of it and I sure hope yours is one that is the lighter cases. Be sure and take care of yourself and don't let yourself get too tired. Let us know what happens. Maybe we can help support you some way. Don't take it lightly at all.

Yeah, I've been doing lots of research on the Internet, but I'd just like to talk to someone who actually has some experience with it...

The doctor my family doctor has referred me to is head of the immunology department at OSU Medical Center. Now if they would just call me to set up my appointment!

Why don't you go to the Lupus foundation website or search for support groups. I think that they have message boards just like this one here.

Good luck!!

Pm me. We can talk.

Sorry to hear this and please keep us updated on your situation. You're in my T&P.

The Mayo Clinic website is another good place to go.

One of my employees has Lupus. The symptoms are so varied in type and severity that her case could be completely different from yours. She misses more work than the average person due to pain and fatigue, but she might miss a bit less if she took better care of herself overall.

Thanks, guys. It's really frustrating because I don't yet have a definite diagnosis, and the referral process to the specialist is extraordinarily slow! Meanwhile, I feel terrible and can't tell anyone why! :disapp:

They finally called to set up my appointment this past Tuesday. I go next Thursday. We'll see what happens!

Oh dear, I am sorry to hear this! One of my friends at work has Lupus. My sister has something similar to Lupus. check out all the info you can on the Internet, but don't over do it. I did that when I was sick last year - it can get too scary. Your Dr. or Specialist is the best source of info.

Take care and keep us posted!!!
