Dream Programs

OMG I am still wishing for Mao to turn her Chopin Ballade and Jupiter to competitive programs! Also, I would very much like for her to skate to Tosca (Maria Callas' Vissi d'arte), another Rachmaninov and Rodrigo y Gabriela's Angelica.

Actually he plays to the greatest strength a skater can have - the ability to entertain the crowd. And while some people can get entertained by Romeo & Juliet or Rachmaninoff, most people are going to be entertained by the upbeat pieces that Javier does.

For some reason, Danse Macabre just popped into my head for a long program for Gracie. I think because the music kind of builds into an almost frantic state, and her fast "windmill" arms might really work with that.
I think the piece would be a great fit for her.

By far the weirdest piece of classical music I've ever heard. Every time I show it to someone, their reaction is something like "this has got to be a joke" or "I can't believe this actually exists" so imagine the reaction you'd get to the nutty goodness of a program to it!

Maybe Alisa Fedichkina, as she is obviously well-suited to cat-themed programs.

I feel like I've gotten influenced by a skater or some skaters because I've decided to go and think of more unorthodox songs. Because hey, with all the kabillion songs out there, why not select some that have never been used?

Like "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie. Omg, since 2008, I've wanted someone to skate to it I LOVE that song so much.

Anything other than Feeling Good or I Put A Spell On You would be preferable. By the time poor Natalie Weinzierl got on the ice for her short programme and Michael Buble started up, the crowd let out a collective groan and I felt so sorry for her!

But as for dream programmes, the two main tunes/musical ideas I'd love to see someone skate to are Duel of the Fates from The Phanton Menace which has those quieter build-up moments before the glorious and dramatic choral heights or the Spanish guitar stylings of Rodrigo y Gabriels. Their brilliantly performed original musical as well as unexpected covers of rock classics would be perfect for many skaters (I'd love to see Elena try something by them, especially to get away from the ballad based drudgery that did her very little good this year).

Great piece, but to me that's more a Javi-thing. Brian Orser used it as his SP in 1987/88 and it was marvellous! Brian has young Stephen Gogolev skating to it at the mo. Somebody used it this season, can't remember who.

I like the idea of more Epic programs for Yuzu - Seimei is my favourite program of his.
