Ekaterina Bobrova & Dmitri Soloviev

Honestly, I admire them that they don`t listen to the critics. The last thing we need is another case of Maxim Shabalin, who could barely skate after he went back to full training shortly after his operation.

Ah ok. I'm sure she must've received some proposition or a hint.
I remember Piseev's comment about Dima. They were really low.

Piseev is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, it's true. When you say something like this to media, you must understand that fans, skaters AND judges will read it. There will be consequences. Sometimes it's wiser to chew than to talk.
I think their possible participation at Worlds is out of question now.

Bobrova wants to be a coach in the future and she is helping coach Volkov with some youngster now, so the "seeing Bobrova skating with someone else" is just one of those coaching time?

That's not gonna happen. They wanted to skate four more years at least. But I have a feeling that there's some 'talks' inside RSF about possible partner switching. Kirill doesn't fit her, like, at all. I think her possible team up with Katsalapov has more potential than with Khaliavin. Seriously. So, not gonna happen.

I was also wondering about a Bobrova/Katsalpov partnership, but given the history he has with Katia & Dima, I can't see her agreeing to skate with him. And Zhulin will not take him again, so she'd need a coaching change.

Why do you think Kirill wouldn't fit her? It would be a nice height match, they've got similar basic technique thanks to coming up through the same coaching path & I think he's got a bit of a lighter style which could help get away from the criticisim that B/S often had of being overly dramatic & heavy.

Of course, the main hope is still that Dima comes back next year - no one has really made a super strong case for themselves in B/S's absence & they would be right back into competing with I/Z for the no. 1 spot in Russia.

I agree that there must have been some chat about more partner swapping - it's why Nikita wasn't at Arctic Edge for a while in January, why Elena has been so vehemently saying that Ruslan is her partner & she'd never leave him, & why Margalio has been spreading his rumours. But I don't think that we'll see any big moves - it's three years to the next Olympics, they've seen this season how hard it can be for a new team to gel & build up their reputation to challenge the top skaters & if anyone else moved they'd be left with one top senior team who had been together for more than a season. Unless they were getting I/K back together - and Elena has been clear that is absolutely out of the question - it would just be madness to meddle any further.

Did Maurizio said that? I'm asking because apparently he talked about Bobrova possibility to partner with Khaliavin during the FD at Euros, but I didn't hear him myself because I didn't watch the FD with Rai commentators. I was told by others that he said so.

Yes, technically they're both well prepared, although Dima is clearly smoother and stronger than Kirill. But emotionally, artistically, presentation-wise he's not on Katia's level, and IMO never will be. I actually like M/K, but I don't like any of them as a single dancers, I only see them as team.

Ok, I just saw the FD with rai commentators and Maurizio was not commentating in the free. Therefore, all the rumors are not true. People must've confused his words with what he said during the SD.

Too bad this season didnt work out for them. I know a lot of people talk about their anna karenina fs program, but I personally wouldve enjoyed seeing a sort of battle of the SD Carmens between them and I/Z throughout this season had they been healthy.

My fan made video montage of them

It's only Copy and Paste, but again, it's the first time : next vid will be better :o: I promise
Bobrova - Soloviev Fanmade Video - All of me (Bailey and Chen cover)

I think you did a good job. :) I have a terribly complex video editor that I can't fully use because its just to detailed but I do what I can. I like that you included the emotions of the skaters in your video instead of just the tricks. Thx for sharing and my appreciation for them has grown because of your video.

What do you mean? You think there is more behind?

No, what I meant to say is - I'm glad they're not rushing their return, I really seriously think it's for the best. But on the other side, I think their absence will hurt them where their rating and their reputation concerned. Besides, I wanted to see their dances this season, and their Carmen will be wasted

I agree.

I'm not sure about it. If they are strong on their return I don't think they will have problems. As for Carmen well, she can't beat Elena so probably it's for the better. :p:biggrin: On the other hand we can still see Karenina, which I'm really looking forward.

In my opinion it's a questionable statement :) I hope they will re-work their Karenina FD now, put more transitions and some beautiful choreography in it.
AND since their FD is pretty much ready AND it's good (as far as we know), they have more time to prepare amazing Waltz for their SD for next season. I'm too optimistic, am I?
