Ekaterina Bobrova & Dmitri Soloviev

Finally watched it. Can barely see anything, but not touching midline step sequence has some interesting choreography in it. Not a fan of music choice for SD and of her outfit here.

We can't really see much of the program, but certainly her choice of outfit could be better. Music is nothing special.

I heard they're using Vivaldi for the last part of the fd. Can anybody confirm this?

I rather doubt that they have finalized costumes yet. It's a little early yet, and especially to be critiquing costumes. Just saying.

Snow, yes, I like the NTMLSS does have some interesting choreography. He looks to be back at full strength. I do hope one or more of their coaches are screaming the following at them on at least a daily basis:

Posture!
Posture!
POSTURE!

Not to mention stretch and extension.

I'm not sure if this will be as memorable as the AK program (they really are a great advertisement for the High Russian Style), and I wish someone would FORBID them to tamper with classical music (whoever told you that classical music had to be jazzed up in order to make it interesting LIED THEIR HEADS OFF TO YOU BOTH), but it will be interesting to see the FD develop over the course of the season.

You know, they used to annoy the bejesus out of me when I first started watching them, but I now have a really soft place in my heart for them.

I saw some reactions to the song like this one, but I think this is something very personal. I for one love Chopin, but see no problem with this particular version at all. I think it would certainly be a lot more dissonant with the tone of the program as it is now if it was just the original piece. You can see they are trying to deviate a bit from the High Russian Drama. If it's going to work, we have to wait.

Last minute will be composed specifically for this dance. From their recent interview:
You said that you have already started to do new programs.

Katya: Yes, began to work. We found the perfect music for the free program, but it only lasts three minutes, so the rest will be finished by the composers. Dima said that we will try to do something new in plastic, in composition … It is clear that the elements are elements, but we want the entire program to look as a whole, everything should be nice and organically. We work on this.

Maybe something's changed, I don't know.

Funny thing is I didn't like them that much early in their careers too. The 'Chess' SD was a total breaking point for me. So much power and drama in that dance  Before that I liked some, and didn't like some. After that I loved everything. Even that 'Birds' dance had a potential to be great. Zhulin just forgot the difference between ice shows (of not very good quality too) and real competitions for a minute, and the tempo was too high even for their level of technical skills.

You know, they used to annoy the bejesus out of me when I first started watching them, but I now have a really soft place in my heart for them.

Isn't it just great?

I thought they had promise and style since The Red Poppy OD, but it wasn't till Skate America in Kent that I became a real fan!

Haha! This free dance already has an impact on the FS community. I've read some forums today. And I just love the reactions! Some of the meltdowns are just hysterical.
And Russian FS community is worst from all. Some fans of particular Russian teams already have some conspiracy theories that this dance WILL BE overscored this season to push Bobrova/Soloviev ahead of the particular Russian teams :dbana: Because the dance obviously is basic at best, with non-existent 'stale' choreohraphy and unoriginal simple elements with slow pace. I mean, come on! The season didn't even started :slink:
I don't remember such attention to them last season. And Russian fans of Ice dance clearly learned some things from FFKR, they thrash their compatriot teams just as good :laugh2:

Better video of the SD.

I was unsure about the program before but I like it now???? I'm surprised about it, haha. It looks sexy and fun, and the outfit is a bit out there, but it works for me. Like it more than last year's SD already, so it's a plus for me.

I quite like these programs too, at least at this point. But I cannot get behind Katia's costume in the SD- here's hoping it's just a placeholder.

Russian ID is always a :palmf: so I've learned to just like the teams I like (B/S and I/Z) and not talk too much about the others

To me he is too dressed and she is too undressed. Not sure if SD is caprivating though. After being stripped from Worlds last season I think they need a stronger music and choreo to make a big come back. Hope I like their FD better.

I'm not too excited wth this SD.Awful costume .The lift was good but didn't go with any highlight in the music it was just an element done. And that random piece of war horse music stuck right on the end.Disappointed.

I completely love it I don't care what anyone says. Their movements are so full and dramatic and that lift is to die for. I do agree the costumes could use a bit of overhaul.

I think they were rather slow across the ice, especially in the no touch step sequence.
very polished at the expense of speed.

I love Bobrova's costume, but I think it might be breaking the rules.
I think you have to have a skirt of some form.
But skaters at the top, seem to be able to break such rules and escape deductions. ;)

They are allowed this season to wear short pants, so I think in that regard she is fine.
