IZ are given everything to succeed. They have world champion acrobats and Cirque performers working on their lifts. They have two well-known choreographers putting together their programs. Sports institute professors help with their conditioning. They work with ballroom dancers whose students regularly place high in the Blackpool competition. They get all the ice time they need and it's not hard to figure out that Kustarova is not above consulting her skating friends about aspects of their skating

At some point though, it's really up to IZ to perform to their capabilities.

So, it`s more about them not being able to show what they are performing in training?

Elena looked like she was about to cry in the KnC :cry: I think she was very, very disappointed with their FD performance.

Yes, but it's another thing all together when your choreographer is there with you every day helping to meld the TES and PCS. But you are right I/Z are professionals and they simply have to put in the work.
 
I think they are feeling the weight of expectation this season. Maybe this will be the shock they need to start going all out when they compete. Both programs here were tight and tentative - I understand holding back if it helps the tes, but it hasn't, it's only hurt their GOE and PCS. They haven't done a really positive FD since GPF, and there they had no pressure. I wonder if they work with a sport psychologist - mistakes in the FD are becoming a habit and they need to break it fast.
At least they still have a slight lead in PCS over what was given in the FD to the other Russian teams.

Maybe you are right. They really like to perform in Russia, so I hope this will bring them to let everything out that they were holding back here in China.
 
I couldn't find any working video of their fd at CoC.I really want to watch.Can anybody help me about that? I'm gonna be very happy if you share a link.

H/B were on the ice warming up with them before they went back to their coaches with apparently Kaitlyn crying. So they probably knew only a few minutes before.

Tough, but it happens. Hopefully things go a lot better next time. They have the material.

Yes they have access to a sports psychologist. I remember some mention of one last year. And yes, they actually have only done one really good FD the whole time they've been together. However, there is only so much a psychologist can do. After all, Abbott never stopped being a headcase. At some point, it's no longer the coach's fault, the choreographer's, the federation's etc.

So I guess it's time to right them off, I'd imagine. I shudder to think what's being said about them outside their fan thread.:dumb:

I mean, I'm not completely freaking out about them being headcases at all - it was to be expected last season that they wouldn't be consistent, & at least when they had an error at MO they didn't let it affect the rest of the program like they did at Euros & Worlds. And if you look at C/B or G/P, they didn't really get consistent until well into their 2nd season together. But I am worried that they said in the interview after today that they were nervous - they need to believe in their capabilities & their material, and not let doubts creep in.

I read the interview & I'm feeling a little better if that performance wasn't at all reflective on what they've been doing in training & what they expected to produce. They obviously aren't looking to blame anyone else, they take responsibility for the bad performance. Hopefully it fires them up for CoR. I don't think they'll automatically been seen as being behind the other Russians (PCS was still high for a bad skate, there is a lot of room to grow the TES) but it's going to be a fight.
