Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

Also I had heard Popova/Mozgov aren't training with Kustarova's group anymore, that there was a conflict with training. At any rate, I/Z would be Kustarova's top priority and being one of three teams(plus Kustarova's various low level teams) isn't so bad. Igor has a team at every or almost every event for the forseeable future.

Putted like this it seems that IZ are lucky to stay in Moscow and have a place where they can have as much as possible attention and ice time.Because now that everything is set and finalized they just need to practice and get as clean as possible. And then go back and receive Igor's reviews and final touches.

And then I urgently need to see the whole programs. :)

Agreed. It looks like they'll have an arrangement similar to what C/L had with both Igor and Marina :)

C/L`s main coach is Paola Mezzadri, Marina and Igor only played a consultant role to them. With I/Z it seems like Igor and Fabian are their primary coaches, while Kustarova will fill in when I/Z are in Russia (test skates, Nationals etc.), but I wouldn`t be surprised to see Kustarova at Euros with them, if they qualify. US Nationals and Euros are usually pretty close together and Igor will have several teams at both competitions.

True :)

It appears these two will no longer do Nebelhorn. They've been pulled from the entries list http://www.isuresults.com/events/cat00028771.htm
Thank you, but this is not news. It was posted on this thread some time ago - http://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?50387-Elena-Ilinykh-amp-Ruslan-Zhiganshin&p=1477685&viewfull=1#post1477685. They are not going to Nebelhorn because of Ruslan's knee injury/problem. They will start their season with Skate America.

This can be worked out privately as its done with every other pair that don't have a significant size difference. Examples include V/M, Bob/Sol., Guignard/Fabbri, Anna and Luca. The list could go on. What I don't like is the insistence that Lena has to be smaller. If she just loses the weight the problem will just disappear. Other male ice dancers don't have similar injuries? Ruslan also by extension needs to make adjustments. This incessant need to weight shame her in public is just borderline vulgar. It's really a bullying tactic and they need to stop it.

Edit: uhh, thank you. You said it better than I could.

I don't understand the huge focus on weight. Lena is fairly small, there have been ice skaters in both pairs and ice dance that have certainly been bigger and heavier. Why are they always after Lena about this? It's like beating a dead horse.

Besides, I agree that if there are problems it is not just all about the weight and that just dropping the weight will miraculously eliminate all technical issues.

Maybe it`s because there is nothing else to complain about? :confused2: It`s not like they can complain about her skating skills or lack of performance skills, which are both excellent.

After the test skates, I expected people to talk mostly about the programs of the Russian teams who actually skated the open test skates. Instead what you find is talk about Elena`s "weight issues" and Ruslan`s injury. As the number 4 in their own country, they surely get a lot of attention. I don`t see that kind of behavior towards Paul/Islam or Cannuscio/McManus on North-American message boards.

TBH, there wasn't really much to talk about. S/B were out due to illness. B/S and S/K both have decent SDs. The B/S F/D was uneven and didn't reflect the new direction they had talked at length about. IMHO, a tad depressing. But who knows maybe they're saving the real goods for Korea? S/K gave us a tango/ballet? Which at this point IMHO, is neither tango nor ballet. Maybe going forwards they'll decide which direction they prefer.

Then we had the supporting cast of Mrs. Morozov and Shibnev, Bagin and partner, did I leave anything out? Vaitch was laying it into I/Z thick about weight, not showing their face, and proudly pronounced, "there is no progress in I/Z". Then as fast you could say "super glue", she utters the words "I did not actually see them skate", "good", "stylish" and "competitive" and "needing work"

I get the feeling they have strong programs and some persons were just hugely disappointed that they didn't perform at the open test skates. Other persons however just thrive on making people miserable. Well, that's my take on it :coffee:

How are you guys this lovely, Sunday?

Yes. I forgot to mention them. Her knee was distracting.

Reading the blogs, this season is going to be a mess. For everyone... Since Sochi, I think Russian teams showed the best preparation the season immediately following. Last year they all needed better preparation and it showed in their results. This year, I am not sure that what I have seen makes me feel any better.

Sorry to hijack this thread for the general comment above. Back to I/Z, since we didn't actually see their programs, I am still hopeful they may turn out okay this year.

Nastia Skoptcova (trains with Kustarova) wrote on her ask.fm that I/Z's programs are very cool (of course ;)) and it sounds like Ruslan is coping fine with his knee.

Are they staying with Kustarova now?

I don't know. They said at test skates they would be with her for a bit, I expect while Igor is travelling off to Challengers with his other teams, but I'm sure they will be back with him to prep for Skate America.

They still have a month to prepare for Skate America, so plenty of time! :)

Inspired by those videos I tried to pick up my hubby and the result was not like in the video. :D Luckily Elena and Ruslan are proffesionals and deal with really really complex lifts. And I admire their efforts even more.

I still havent seen the programs (and so sure that they are great) but I am very interested in their costumes. All of them even for Frida.

Also I cant wait for news till when are they staying in Moscow how the practice is going and etc. Hope they also spent quality time both on the rink and with their closed ones.
