Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

Beautiful, their edges are to die for. The best in the business right now.

I agree about Kustarova, I think that some of the fans are a bit ignorant as well, or just new, and I get frustrated at times, but well, we all started from somewhere.
Big names for some of them are only skaters they liked in the past that now coach, or who is old enough to have created a name for himself, preferably outside Russia.

Like today I saw someone wanting Gennadiy Akkerman to work with IZ in compulsories, when IZ are in the best group for compulsories, and Alexeeva herself is a great specialist. Akkerman hasn't worked with a top team since Anissina days, so sometimes I'm not sure that everyone's suggestions for I/Z are malevolent.

Me as well. What she has done with her mother with Ruslena in less than a year is absolutely incredible. One think I notice about Lena with Ruslan is that they have more holds, difficult ones at that. I hope it's their time.

They have more holds than IK had in their whole career combined. And as the season went on they kept skating closer and closer. It really makes things more difficult

Najarro said "the program will turn around the love story between these two famous artists, showing many different sentiments, from sadness to happiness, desire, passion, love”.
Who could it be? My first thought was George Sand and Chopin. Who else?

Let the guessing start. We've got about 4 months of off season to fill.

I don't even have a good guess. I was thinking Freida for a minute but I think I am wrong... 4 months of offseason...NO!!!!!!!!!!! :(

The more time they have the better, hmm Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera? Love the music.

Time for SD news, Ilia where are you ? The Shibs had no problem with spilling the beans

Orrr, interpreting artists a little more loosely, what if it's Picasso (the spanish connection) and his wife Olga Khokhlova, who was a Russian ballet dancer? They met when Picasso designed the sets & costumes for a ballet to Eric Satie's Parade & he collaborated with the Ballets Russes on several other works so there would be a lot of relevant music to choose from.

Actually Averubkh hasn't been announced as the choreographer so I'm not sure why everyone is so certain it's him just because he said he's continuing the partnership with IZ.It could be mean a whole lot of other things, like exhibition, shows, etc

This is another interesting theory! I immediately went to Frieda for the Spanish connection, didn't even think of Picasso!

So right. Let's just wait and see :)

That sounds like a great story for their FD. If it is Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera I wonder if Najarro would include Mexican Baile Folklórico into the dance which fits with some of the music from the soundtrack.

Other artist couples I can think of are Jackson Pollock and Lee Ressner, Salvador and Gala Dalí, August Rodin and Camille Claudel, and Kandinsky and Münter. There is a Salvador Dalí movie with a soundtrack titled "The Death of Salvadore Dalí" http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/felixbrenner that has a fusion of music styles which includes flamenco.
