Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

I`ve watched Alba`s montage to Frida`s Solo tu of Elena and Ruslan. I loved it. The music fits them so well.

I love these cats, I always wanted to have one cause I'm allergic too. And it's such a sweet one, sometimes I feel that these pets that people don't like cause of their looks are kinder, and more loving

I don't know if Sabinfire has already brought these links here, but he made a video for Top 10 performances this season and I/Z are number 7 in his top (min. 6:00 - 8:00) and another video for best costumes of the season, and I/Z are number 2 (4:22 - 5.35).

By the way, about the costumes. I never pay much attention to the skates but Sabinfire is right, the white skates sort of matches Ruslan's shirt.

I had totally forgot about that one. It was just a test. I'm glad you like it though. :)

This off season is so looooong, I am dying for updates! Antonio said I think in the inside skating interview that he'd be going back to work with them in July, so hopefully we'll get some updates from him as he always posts a million pictures, but I really want some clips of them skating - just doing twizzles or a lift, or tbh even just stroking around the rink, I'm that desperate!

You and I both. Today I was thinking about what kind of music they are going to choose for the exhibition.

I'd like them to do something fun & upbeat - maybe the samba style thing they showed a little bit of at the masterclass?

Oh, me too. It`s even worse than last year. I`m counting the days until their first competition. I`m so glad that they are doing a Senior B. I think it`s really important for them to get out these programs without the pressure of qualifying for the GPF. Lately, I have watched a few skating performances to the Ravensburger Waltz and I think now, Queens is a great idea  If the choreo is good, this could be a very charming program.

I`m also thinking how much they can improve scoring wise. I expect them to break 70 pts in the SD and maybe even reaching the 72 to 74 range. The FD is trickier since they had so many mistakes last year, but I think a 106 at the end of the season is possible.

So, you see, I`m also desperate!

Remember that the highest possible score for the SD has dropped because the value of the Set Pattern is reduced by 1 point for a level 4 & a little less for the lower levels - so on the GP while everyone is still getting used to the technical requirements I think 65-68 will be considered a great score. I absolutely expect them to be getting 100+ in the FD - the if they'd been clean at Worlds or Euros they would have been around 100 simply based on the tech they missed & not accounting for the PCS boost a clean performance gets. And that was with a crappy program they didn't even like, just think what they can do with a FD that they love in the way they loved Carmen!

You are right, I totally forgot about that. I just hope that their GOEs and PCS will increase.

My thought exactly!

While I am excited to see the Frida FD it's the SD that has me really intrigued. I can't wait to see how they interpret Queen, I think it will be a waltz that gets people moving!

it's the SD that has me really intrigued.

I feel the same way. I've been trying (and failed) to picture their SD. And the costumes, how will they combine the waltz and rock themes? Those will be a challenge.
I comfort myself thinking that it's just my lack of imagination that creates problems where there aren't any and that they probably have everything settled.

The We will rock you part is certainly meant to get people moving. Whether it will succeed or not depends a lot on the choreography.

This is me being optimistic.

I think their costumes for the SD could be black, maybe with white highlights. Their costumes should be in an elegant rock style to set the right mood in the SD. But I`m sure Elena has already an idea for the costumes  I think we can thank her for the transformation of Ruslan`s style last season. He looked sooo good at Worlds. Especially in the FD.

I think the We will rock you part won't be as big as people probably think it will be.But this remains to be seen. It's intriguing, as well as the version they will be using.
I have pictured the SD many times but I'm sure I'm wrong and this is the magic of it.Usually when I can't picture something it's gonna be good.Like with Carmen last season.Or with Frida this season. For example, I'm almost sure they will be modern, focusing on their chemistry, it's actually funny when I read people thinking the story isn't romantic enough.Of course it's not romantic, that's the story of a very complex relationship.Who said I/Z want to be romantic anyway, they are more like fire to me.

Having watched a bit of Arapov's work these days he has a sense of rhythm, a highly developed sense of rhythm and I kind of like the attitude I/Z are taking. Even their Carmen wasn't traditional, it had modern accents and I think these two want to make a name for themselves and not just be random medal winners with no legacy. But first I need them to skate well, and enjoy it and the rest will come

Costumes..oh costumes...I see black for the SD....Somehow I think they will be going the less is more road with costumes this season. It suits them perfectly, and Ruslan looks so good in casual clothes, suits and shirts.

There's an interview with TAT in some magazine - I don't know which because I've only seen little scans on VK, but for once she's almost entirely positive about I/Z

"Lena & Ruslan made a big breakthrough. He is a hard worker & has made good progress. Lena isn't the easiest person to work with, so I really value his effort. I also like the choice for their new FD."

I love how she declares that Lena is impossible, when Rus & the coaches only have nice things to say...:sarcasm: But at least it's a step up from the her usual Ivan & Sasha should be winning everything statements.
