Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

I agree that it's not origional but I don't agree that this program has negative transitions...

Just before going into the RW, they do nothing but glide hand in hand arms extended on a flat for 2 seconds. Even the novice dancers at my rink wouldn't be allowed to get away with that.

It's interestimg, I feel like a number of teams are struggling this year with transitions....in and out of patterns and especially in and out of lifts. I can't explain it, but a number of teams have transitions that are not only not smooth but awkward.....

Remember guys, lets not get sidetracked this is an I/Z fan thread. We don't need to trash another team to make ours look better. What S/K have going for them is a well choreographed program that suits them and hides their flaws perfectly. Also they skate it with great lightness, and control (which hides her relatively hard knees) joy and a high dose of camp. So it sparkles well. Not all skaters will have the soft knees of I/Z but Marina has done a great job of using it to their advantage, that is what makes a choreographer great. She gave them these well polished, short and clipped movements throughout the march which works perfectly. So give them that they have matched the style of the music perfectly. They also skate very fast. This just adds. Am I watching it every second of the day, no.

However, IMHO, it is not the most technically demanding dance or choreographically most interesting. While I'm not so sold yet on the music cuts I really thought what Igor did for C/B was very, very good indeed, very soft, fluid and sophisticated. The time spent in close hold and the flow and sophistication were top notch. They obviously will make this sparkle in the next couple of months. Also I may be in the minority, but I liked W/P Elvis and I am keen to see what they have with their new Strauss SD. So the next few GP's will put things into perspective as well as COR.

I/Z are going in a different direction. They're saving the classics it would appear for another time. But we haven't really seen a really great quality video to compare them. However if what we saw from the test skates and at Saransk are anything to go by, I don't think we'll be disappointed. To me they have the best skating skills of all the ice dance pairs, comparable to P/C. Just excellent, so let's see how the season will unfold.

I'm excited to see how I/Z' dances, especially Frida evolve. Frida is so special in terms of movement and choreography. The difference from Russian test skates until now is pretty amazing. I can't wait for COC!!!

I`m excited, too.

I`m going to be in Barcelona for the GPF and would love to see I/Z there, but I would be also ok if they don`t qualify and win Euros and Worlds instead.

That is awesome that you are going to the GPF! I am going to Worlds in Boston and I am hoping to see Ruslena there!

I agree. Let's not not sing praises to others here either. :p

I'm not sure I agree with this since I don't think Gabriella have that good SS, despite her improvements. Maybe she has become excellent this season though, I don't know.
