Mixed bag, but lots of good things to take away. Going forwards they cannot have anymore frivolous mistakes. That fall cost them a trip to Europeans and possibly worlds. Happy for B/S. I wonder, what was Zueva saying about B/S again........Oh yeah, what a shame S/K didn't make it to the GPF. Can't wait for the spin now. All in all Russian ID has a ways to go to catch up with the rest of the field.
Happy I/Z made a turn around hopefully they can use this extra time to their advantage. Enjoy the rest of your holidays folks

I hope S/B get tossed for Euros. They don't have the scoring potential I/Z has. Do any of you think the Fed will do that?

Honestly no. They were 4 points ahead of SB in the FD and the distance on the SD with them was small. SB having better PCS than IZ is just ridiculous. IZ in their worst day are head and shoulders above these two, at least. That was a robbery! No doubt about it! But it should serve them as a wake up call!

OH the PCS scores today. Thank you mother Russia. I can always count on you for a big LOL!
As for IZ not making the team, as I said yesterday, maybe it's better this way. They definitely needs to wake up and shake things!

I/Z can still get one of the Euro spots, but a part of me wants them to not be chosen to get them a wake-up call. I hope this doesn`t make me an evil person.

I'm a lot more evil than you. One reason is the one you mentioned and the other one is I want to see Russia with 2 spots at Worlds next season also.:taunt:

I saw signs of greatness these last two days BUT the fall just gave the judges an excuse to kick them off the podium.I/Z probably knew the fix was in for them from the start and unfortunately this affected Lena more. The rest is just highway robbery, what more else is there. Guys, get ready for these jokers that's all you can really do. Can we imagine the most novel FD in the russian ID team stays home, absolutely ridiculous:shocked:.

There is no excuse for today judging. Not a single one. Nope, no way! Not the mistake on the SD, not the FD today. NADA!

I agree. They should have won the FD, but alas. The SD mistake did them in. 50% of me thinks they will be chosen for Euros based on the fact that Stepanova and Bukin do not have their scoring potential internationally. Plus I/Z were second in the free dance.
I really wonder why judges dislike them so much this season. I mean, this SD music is obviously a strange choice, I'm not really fond of it either. BUT their skating is still superb, it is not like it got worse from last year, did it? Blah, strange nationals, really.

I think the right strategy for next season could be this:
- coaching change (pretty please!!!)
- playing it safe in the SD going more into the ballroom route
- simplifying the transitions, so they have more speed
- simplifying twizzles
- working on new lifts positions
- using more catchy music for the FD (I love the Frida soundtrack, but apparently the judges don`t)
- going to a real Senior B
- skate perfectly everytime they step on the ice
- coaching change (pretty please!!!)

No they will not. Otherwise they wouldn've been placed after SB. I still can't stop

It's the mistakes. They wouldn't put the full stock in them because of COR and the SD and the fact that the judges haven't received the SD music well.

Nothing. This was not a matter of skating or the mistake on the SD. It was already decided and they made it so obvious.
Alba, I agree with you. But as I said, I believe in conspiracy theories when the shoe fits. There is no conceivable way they should be off the podium but this is what persons in certain circles wanted and they got their wish. I am proud of how well they regrouped given the attacks they frequently weather in certain circles. To be sure we don't know the half of it. So now let the guys train more and come back to kill it next season. I am practically certain that these silly mistakes will be a thing of the past, replaced instead by absolutely riveting skating. I'm not worried. I just have this gut feeling that these are not shrinking violets. Lets go watch their great skate again.
The real tangible message the judges gave them today is you MUST be more consistent. It is a terrible blow but I think it might work to their advantage.
