Elena Ilinykh & Ruslan Zhiganshin

I can't afford any of the competitions mentioned above, but I'll do my best to be at Europeans. I need to see them live. Please be on the Euro team this time, Ruslena!
I think their GP assignments are very good! I don't believe they can challenge the Shibs or P/C, but Hubbell/Donohue or Bobrova/Soloviev, that might be within their power...
 
Whee! a dream come true that they are going to Skate America! I am over the moon!
 
I have been thinking about going to Paris this year in the weekend of the trophy and now knowing that Ruslena are there made me even more eager! I don't know if I will manage to do so since I'll be short on money but maybe my dream of going to Paris and seeing them live will come true =D
 
Very happy for Ruslena! I'm guessing they aim high, so even with packed field in TdF I hope they would podium! Same with SA! :hap10:

For anyone going to Skate America- the Marriot is booked- the USFSA has a block there. And they are sold out

I've heard that Bourzat is their main coach, not Igor.
Igor doesn't have enough time to give everyone lots of attention, but I heard that when he takes skaters he works 'smart' and thats why he gets results.
So even if Igor only can give them some time, we should still see results provided 'la miss' puts in the work. ( I am sure Ruslan will )

Igor is their main coach. Fabian is part of his team and works with them also. And what is with you "la miss Elena" puts in the work comment? You do know this is a Fan Fest right?

I am a fan, that is why I hope to God she has worked!
Elena when she works is one of the best skaters of all time, but when she doesn't it shows.
So I hope she has worked her butt off!

Gotcha. Understood;) I think plenty of work is being done by both Elena and Ruslan, they wouldn't have made a big move like this to slack. They have so much more available to them in Novi then they did in Russia.
 
Well, Fabian being their main coach doesn`t have to be a bad thing. I think he is also the main coach of Abachkina/Thauron and they made a huge leap in the 2014/2015 season, when they changed from Lyon to Novi.

Anyway, I`m sure Igor is giving them enough time, Elena mentioned in one of their interviews they worried that they wouldn`t get enough attention, the fact that they decided to move to the US seems to suggest that there is nothing to worry about :)

Besides, the US system seems to work more on the teams working with a lot of specialists with Shpilband overseeing the process rather than having individual time with one single coach, like it is in Russia.

Anyway, I`m also curious to see their improvements and can`t wait for Russian test skates in September :)

Dear, sometimes being a fan means not trashing someone every time a competitor or hater throws a rumour out there. I'm telling you this with all respect you know this cause I know you care.

Igor is I/Z's main coach and even if some people try to start rumours ( for obvious reasons) it will be clear sooner or later.( And Igor himself in his interview mentioned it's mainly him, and then Fabian and Najarro)

The comments about Elena though bother me, cause it's like a story is going on 5 years in a row and I wonder when some people will stop. People get over their divorces more easily than stopping shipping others. Tongue in cheek but kind of true at times.

Absolutely this. I have never seen a coaching change that have shook up others like this one. And interesting thing to see.

Igor has power, Kustarova doesn`t. Adding to that Elena and Ruslan are pretty unique and have amazing talent. So, I guess it`s normal that this coaching change is making their competitors a little nervous. Anyway, it`s off season and we still have to wait a long time before seeing how the situation in Russian Ice Dance will unfold. I`m just hoping I will be finally able to see them live in Helsinki, :)

I don't even know if they'll be skating, it might just be juniors, but I'm crossing my fingers!
