Elena Kostyleva

Lena's programs from the moscow stage

sidenote...while I won't get into politics, as it's not allowed here, I will just say I'm disappointed that Lena doesn't have any adults in her life who are smart enough to ensure that she doesn't post things that might bar her from ever getting to compete internationally :palmf: I suppose she might have to reconsider not competing under any other flag :)

I didn't want to post about this until the matter had been resolved, but given the nature of Irina, there probably won't be any real resolution anytime soon, so I'll just do it now. Honestly, I was debating whether to post about it at all, but I don't think this is a situation that should be ignored.

A summary of the current ongoing Irina Kostyleva-Plushenko war

Allegedly, at Omsk last week, Plushenko saw Irina hit Lena (although, Irina claims she only grabbed her by the neck of her hoodie), and this was the breaking point for Plushenko, causing him to reveal on social media that Irina calls Lena fat and constantly belittles her, saying that she'll never accomplish anything. After, the competition, he bought Lena a phone for her to communicate freely with the academy staff.

Irina responded to Plushenko's accusations by saying that Lena has grown and gained weight because she's not training hard enough or long enough and the staff feeds her chocolates. She also complained about how this is because she's not allowed to attend her trainings and that Sofia Sarnovskaya has her own personal trainer and trains for longer than Lena.

Things truly came to a head when, on the 24th, Lena asked the academy staff for protection from her mother, as her father, who would usually defend her, was absent at the time. This led to Plushenko reporting Irina to the authorities, and the matter is currently being looked into by lawyers.

It should be noted that this is not the first time Irina has had the authorities called on her. Back in June, Irina had the police called on her when she was at Plushenko's house freaking out, claiming that they were holding Lena inside their house and trying to get her to sign a contract. During this mess, Irina said something rather disturbing, when, in response to being accused of hitting Lena, she said that she had to discipline her, otherwise by the time she's 16, she'd kill her and her father because she has bad genes. Even outside of that incident, Plushenko revealed that Irina is already registered with the guardianship authorities and has been visited by the juvenile affairs commission multiple times for her treatment of Lena.

Multiple staff members at AoP have testified to witnessing Irina physically abuse Lena, and below are some pics and videos that have been shared showing marks from the abuse, as well as cctv of her hitting Lena in the stomach. I have mixed feelings about these being shared publicly, but Yana claims Lena herself has given permission for it.

The latest update is that Irina has been kicked from the house the Kostyleva's have been staying in at the AoP. This was encouraged by Lena and her father, who are both still living there.

Honestly, Lena is insanely strong to have endured this for so long, and still be constantly dominating in competition while dealing with it. Some might claim that her mother is the reason she's so strong mentally, but even if that's the case, it's still incredibly damaging for her mental health. As someone who recently got into tennis and whose fav player is unfortunately Andrey Rublev, I've seen how damaging the long-term impact of this kind of childhood abuse can be, and I don't want that for Lena. I don't know what will happen with this case legally, but hopefully Irina's custody of Lena is restricted and Lena receives therapy.

Hopefully my next post here will be something happier, like the junior channel 1 cup

Judging by the different versions of this story, Irina is once again living in her own world...Plushenko and Yana wanted to steal her child from her, but she's okay with Lena doing one of their shows next week after narrowly managing to escape 😁
I hope her dad will be more involved with Lena's career now, bc if it was up to Irina, Lena probably would have performed at the channel one cup even while sick, just like last year (and she certainly wouldn't let Margo take her spot)

Ira now talks openly she's going to take Lena from AoP as soon as it will be officially possible. Though she should take part at Plushenko show in Belarus next week )under Ira's supervision). There are rumors (nothing confirmed) she wants put Lena to Navka's school (probably the last school she is not at war with yet, although she allegedly made some comments on Sokolovskaya).

She has said she's going to remove Lena from AoP multiple times in the past, but has always stayed, coming up with some excuse as to why. I don't believe her words at all. She's talked before about Lena doing Navka's shows, but once again, I think this is just Irina living in her own world. I don't think Navka will want her there or have any desire to put up with her. And even if she did switch to there, Irina would once again get pissed when Lena has to share attention with not only the boys, but also the Milto twins and Lukashova. And she would definitely be pissed when she realizes Navka isn't going to make Lena the star of her shows like Plushenko does.

We shall see what happens, but ultimately, I think Lena will raise hell if her mom tries to take her away from AoP, and I think Irina herself realizes her options are limited and she won't find a better deal than AoP

Yea, Navka's show-roster is significantly more lucrative than Plushenko's—not anything Momma is interesting in. Though it would likely be ideal for Elena to develop under minimal stress and steadily learn more effectively from her experienced colleagues and develop in the long-term (not that in general I prefer her leaving AoP—I mean this only from a commercial/show perspective).

IMHO Kostyleva's mother....she is not mentally well. It rather looks/sounds like a mild, late blooming schizophrenia or some other psychiatric dysfunction, illness. If indeed it is so, then it is a real tragedy. It is a tragedy first of all for her and only afterwards to the people around her. She is not getting help she desperately needs. Not first or last time that family members are the last recognizing mental disfunctions. However it is, it is a real tragedy for all parties involved. However; I hope I am wrong.

She definitely is mentally ill. It's the only real explanation for her behavior. As someone who studied psychology, I'd say she shows strong signs of not only bpd or bipolar disorder, but also narcissism  it is a shame that her family isn't getting her the help she needs, and her relationship with Lena (not to mention Lena's mental health) will suffer greatly from it. Probably as soon as she's old enough to, she'll run from her mom and never look back

Well, if anyone wants an update on the drama, Plushenko will be continuing to coach Lena until May, as he's obligated to do. What will happen after? Who knows. Also, the Kostyleva's have been kicked out of the house that was provided for them on the AoP grounds. Lena, it seems, will stay at a dorm. Frankly, I think this is the best option...it will be good for Lena to be away from her mom and become more independent, and maybe Irina's hysterics will calm. If Irina doesn't like it, I suppose her options are to either find a new school or rent a place in Moscow.
Also, it seems Irina has forbidden Lena from taking part in Plushenko's shows, but I won't be surprised if this was an empty threat and she changes her mind now that she sees he will simply find a replacement (probably with Sarnovskaya), rather than trying to change her mind

Well, Plushenko has announced that he's no longer coaching Lena. Very unfortunate for her...who knows where she'll train now, but I can't really see the remainder of her season going well. It's a shame her mom is incapable of using common sense and insists in ruining things for Lena. But Plushenko is clearly leaving the door open for her to return, so perhaps she'll end up back with him when She's turns 16 and can seek emancipation.
But really, idk what her mom is thinking. This running from coach to coach every 2 years might have been "fine" when Lena was a novice, but now she'll be going through puberty soon. What she needs is stability
Edit: Apparently she'll be training with Fedchenko for the rest of the season? Well, good luck to Fedchenko, but she is vastly overestimating her ability to handle Irina

Emancipation is easy if you have someone who will fight for you .. it needs money (that the easy one if you are one of the best of become one of the best), a good head in your shoulders and an adult that fight and protects you ( somekind of legal guardian for matters that can be resolve at 16)... it's not easy ... my question is if she is turning 16, and she is very good athlet why RF doesn't do something ...

Well, I'm sure Plushenko would be happy to help her with the money and legal matters. It would be nice if someone like her sister also stepped up to help, since her dad is apparently happy to sit by and let his wife do all these insane stuff.
I'm not really sure what the Rusfed could do in this situation. It's not their job to interfere in an athletes family matters. It would be nice if they at least tried to get Irina to stop constantly slandering coaches and skaters on social media, though.

Aaaand after not even a full month, Lena is already back with Plushenko. Posted on his telegram.

We all live and do everything for our children.
For Lena, and only for her, we erased all the negativity from our lives and set aside all our principles.
At Christmas—a bright Christian holiday—we all talked and decided to start our sports life with her from scratch.
Lena has only been on our ice once in the last month and a half.Illness, Voronezh, surgery…
We have a lot of work to do together. God willing, we can succeed.

According to Fedchenko:
Lena is a very talented girl, but our paths in sport are different. We are ending our partnership and wish her success in shows and competitions!
Our academy system is, first and foremost, work: hard and meticulous work on all aspects of figure skating. Lena is accustomed to parties, shows, and a lack of routine. Perhaps this is her athletic path, but we cannot help her in this direction.
The reasons: repeated absences from training, failure to meet weight control requirements, failure to complete training assignments, namely, the number of complete program runs.
Irina Kostyleva also interferes with the training process, does not adhere to academy rules, and disrupts the peace in our school.
A huge thank you to Plushenko's Angels for not abandoning the athlete and for accepting her back!

Lena herself says:
I thank Sofia Anatolevna Fedchenko for the time she dedicated to me. I'm grateful to Sofia Anatolevna's mother, Tatyana Ivanovna, who fed me, cooked for me, and took care of me when I lived with them. But after meeting Evgeny Viktorovich Plushenko at the show, I realized that he is my favorite person - my coach for my entire life. I feel comfortable with him, and he taught me jump techniques, which I don't want to re-learn.
I've seen a lot of comments about my weight and height, and many incorrect answers and misinformation. My height is 150 cm and my weight is 38 kg. I'm not starving or on a diet - I'm just eating properly.
Another response to the question about misinformation. I wasn't expelled - I completely made the decision to return to E.V. Plushenko myself.
A response to the claim that I missed general training sessions because the show's schedule coincided with the training sessions. You all know that I'm currently participating in the show, and S.A. Fedchenko allowed me to participate in the show. I don't understand the complaints against me.

btw, I think it's rather vile of Fedchenko to publicly state such things about Lena...why is it necessary to slander a 14-year-old? Just makes me think Lena's version of events is correct and she chose to leave, blindsiding Fedchenko, who was anticipating international competitions next season and showing up Plushenko
