Hi Batsuchan! I really missed your post with detailed information, I'm glad you wrote after so long !! Thank you for all the info!! This week I thought that a long time ago I did not write and now that I did, I'm very happy, that you and everyone have a beautiful week!

Aww, you're so sweet RominaBolis!

Here's another interview with Radionova:

I love this interview with Elena! She talks about what happened with Inna Goncharenko, her current work with Buyanova, and how much she enjoys working with Shae Lynn Bourne. I agree that last season especially, I felt like she was hitting a dead end and I wasn't sure if her coach knew how to help her improve. Sounds like it was a really difficult decision for her to leave Inna. It's interesting though how she mentions ice training is much more work now that she is focusing on gliding and every single move, whereas before she just skated from jump to jump. Sounds like our suspicions that her training was lacking something were correct. I'm also thrilled that she is learning and appreciating different styles. I can't wait to see her during Russian test skates!!! :yahoo:

Ooh, thank you for sharing! I check FSU everyday but somehow I missed this!

I'm not surprised that Elena's training was lacking, but that's not something I blame on Inna, per se, but rather the way the system is set up so that Buyanova's team has access to all the resources she could possibly want--or so it seems. I *am* glad that Lena finally has optimal training conditions, but I'm also glad that she sounds quite aware of everything Inna has done for her and is quite grateful.

Lena's strong character and absolute determination really come through in this interview. She knows what she needs to do and she's going to go out and to it!!! I'm glad to see she's got that fighting spirit back! :agree: I just hope this translates into great results this season!

Separately, here's our gorgeous model girl:  (But I guess this is an old photo from last year.)

Also, apparently Lena will be skating in an ice show (along with lots of other skaters) on Sep 15--"Magic on Ice." :agree:
I wonder if she'll have a new EX???

Hmm, I'm not sure if I like the new dress much better than the old one, TBH. I was hoping for something more like what she wore for test skates last year (I think that was the original dress that didn't work out for some reason). I also think she needs more sparkles on her dress . Anyway, Lena is known to change dresses several times a season, so maybe she will show up in something new later on!

Also, is anyone else a bit worried about the reception her program will get? I know it was well-liked last year, but it seems to me that everyone will be comparing how she skates it each time to her peak performance last year (WTT) and if she comes up short, or if the energy level just isn't there, that may negatively impact her.

I am excited to see her FS though!! Hoping she kicks some *** as I hate how people are already counting her out :disapp:

"In these open skating, Elena Germanovna trying to figure out how we help each other. We are still getting used to each other in competition practice. In training we are doing well, but it's still difficult to reorganize to the start. It's good that we have performed here, we will soon go to the tournament in Bratislava. We need a little more time. In the short program, I tore off the jump, but I was well prepared. I made some conclusions, she too"

Thanks for the pics and the interview link. :thank:

I have only watched Lena's programs and not any of the other girls, but I have to admit that I'm kind of disappointed with her program choices.

I agree with you, Seruleane; I'm not sure it was such a good idea to reuse her SP. I have always disliked the fact that the tempo at the beginning is so slow, and Lena just looks like a snail on the ice when she's skating to it. But at least it is comfortable for her.

I think it's interesting she decided to do a flip as her solo jump, but judging from the LP, it might because she's still struggling with the loop. My only concern about that choice is that Lena has successfully done a 3Lo+3T combo when she messes up the opening combo, but I don't think she has ever done a 3F+3T successfully. (She fell at the TCC in 2016.) So in some ways, I think doing a loop as the solo jump gives her another option in case the opening combo doesn't go as planned...

As for the LP...the music itself is not bad; I mean, my ears are not bleeding the way they were when I first heard Lena's SP last year, but I definitely would not have chosen that piece for her *Olympic season* LP. It just seems so...anti-climactic. I strongly felt that in order to make the Olympic team, Lena needed to have a really strong LP, one that made people want to leap out of their seats at the end, and that music just doesn't do it for me, at all. :(

But who knows? Perhaps Lena will be able to sell the heck out of it when she actually competes. On the plus side, it did not feel empty to me like her Turandot LP did last year. I felt like the second half of that program was just Lena skating back and forth and jumping; this program seems to have many more transition elements and interesting choreography throughout. It just doesn't have that build to a big finale like her 2013-14 LP or her 2014-15 Rachmaninoff program did.

At least her jumps looked like they were in reasonably good shape, at least compared to this point last year. Yes, she couldn't do a decent lutz-toe combo, and her loop and axel still give her problems, but there was a sharp snap to her rotations in the air that I felt had been lacking last year.

So I guess we'll see what happens... GOO LENA!!! :hap10:

Apparently a bunch of people crowded around Lena to take photos yesterday:

I actually like her FS. And I can see that her work with Buyanova has already paid dividends in terms of better upper body posture and more elegant/stretched out arm movements. I think she will have better results this season than last.
