It was one of Elena's interviews and I am pretty sure I found it on this thread, but could not even begin to tell you which one. I recently became a fan of Elena's and went through this thread trying to catch up. As I recall she said Julia was funny. I will try to see if I can find it for u!

Yep, it's TEB. I think they are now pretty close, or at least they like to hang out together at the competitions. They were hanging out at GPF (there was a video of them backstage), and then at Nationals they were sitting in the stands together.

If I were on my PC and not using my phone, I could share more links of Lena hanging out with the other girls.

I would say that Lena seems to like to hang out with Liza and Yulia at competitions, but her real friends are Adelina and Elena Ilinykh.

This is from Gracie's instagram, from NHK Trophy 2013. She made some kind of comment about looking like a giant. :P She also posted a photo of the two of them because they were tied after the short program.

Ilya Averbukh received an offer to choreograph both of Lena's programs this season (though it isn't 100% clear he has accepted yet).

At some point, I think it would be cool for Lena to work with some other choreographers, but for this season, I think it's a smart choice. I've liked all of Averbukh's programs for Lena (including the JLo one!!), and since it seems like it's Lena's turn to potentially struggle with puberty, I think it make sense to work with someone who's already familiar with the way that she skates and whose style is comfortable for her. :yes:

My friend in Korea walked past Lena, he said she's very tall, much than last season. He didn't want to admit she might be taller than him. :biggrin:
 
Anyone know how tall her parents are? Hoping she handles her growth spurt well (a perfectly natural event but can play havoc with timing, etc.)

Ahaha, I don't think her dad is THAT short, Noolan! It looks like she comes up to his armpit, maybe--but that was almost two years ago. So maybe she was about a foot shorter then (30cm), now it's maybe she's about half that?

Her mom does seem to be rather petite though. In this video (around 4:30), it looks like Lena was already almost as tall as her--and that was last June:

It's so hard to predict how tall Lena will be or how much she will fill out, so I'm just going to hope for the best. :agree:

I think Elena will have beautiful body with pretty long legs, she will be taller as the other girls. I just hope she won't have problem with the jumps because of the growth.

It says "for Van(y)echka". It's a pet name for the Russian male name Vanya (or Ivan - those who have a name Ivan are often called Vanya). Obviously it's the little boy's name.

...Which reminds me, I was re-watching some of Lena's Russian folk EX performances from last year, and I realized that she didn't do the Biellmann spin (only the layback part) in many of them. I was worried when I saw her take them out from the "Bolshoi on Ice" performances this year, but I guess maybe that is pretty typical for her. I'm sure it puts a lot of stress on her back, so I think it's smart not to put unnecessary stress on it for a show. :agree:

I also noticed that she throws the scarf with her right hand--even though she's left-handed. I guess she's kind of ambidextrous? :eek:
