Elena Radionova

I think Lena wore high heeled shoes.

Yes, it's always difficult to judge height from banquet photos, because everyone wears heels...but if you look at this photo from the GPF SP press conference, Lena definitely looks at least as tall as Mao now...
https://www.instagram.com/p/_LIPPgR9Yw/

My big fear for Lena is indeed that she will grow too tall for competitive singles skating. :slink: Maybe she will grow tall enough to be a runway model, but I agree with all of you, I wouldn't wish that lifestyle on her!

Hopefully she will end up around 169cm (like Carolina Kostner) like she wants to, AND still be able to keep her jumps and her consistency!

And after she wins the Olympics, she can definitely become a celebrity model and an actress (and have all those mascara and hair commercials that she clearly deserves.) :agree:

I have no doubt that Lena will succeed in the entertainment industry--after all, she was already offered a movie role 2 years ago:

Many skaters are invited to make movies, programs. Have you received such a request?

About two years ago I was offered to play in a movie, even starring in a film about the war. We went on the "Mosfilm", but when they found out my schedule, this idea soon disappeared. I do not know how and why they chose me. Sami called, called, but failed.

And when we were little, we are Elena S. Maslennikov invited to appear in an episode of "Ice Queen", where the main character played Tatiana Dogileva. We rode in the background, it was a minor role, but all the same role. We are so responsible attitude to work and tried to turn away better, to make the jump.

Speaking of a difficult lifestyle, I was looking at this thread of FSUniverse...

...and it seems that TAT said that Lena is working herself to the bone in order to deal with puberty and weight gain?

I did think to myself that Lena looked a bit thinner at Russian nationals, but I'm hoping that this is partly misinformation from TAT--the same way that she said that Lena grew 15cm and was taller than Polina Edmunds, which is definitely NOT true. :palmf:

I remember that last season, Lena talked about how she could eat anything and didn't weigh herself at all. At the time, I did think that Lena wouldn't be able to do that forever, and I wouldn't be surprised if she now has to watch what she eats.

However, personally, I just hope that Lena's strategy for dealing with puberty is NOT to starve herself... If she's still growing taller, she needs to put on some weight. Personally, I think that if she gains some more muscle mass and strength, it would help her have more power in her skating, and that, in turn, would help with her jumping. I think for the long term, that is a better strategy than trying to stay super, super slim so that she can rotate really fast in the air.

In this interview, Lena talked about how Inna Goncharenko doesn't tell her how to live her life outside the rink...
http://www.eg.ru/daily/sports/48120/
And you have a strict coach? Inna Germanovna makes you go to bed at exactly eleven? Prevents something? Once a week I have a day off. And I was doing that day all I want. The coach is not watching me and never indicates what time I go to bed, what to eat and where not to go. She trusts me completely.
...but I do hope that SOMEONE is making sure that Lena is managing her weight in a healthy way!

Now some other random stuff:
Cute!

Apparently the Boston Globe mislabeled a photo of Lena (from GPF) as Ashley Wagner:

...and now they corrected it:

Finally - from that same article, can someone tell me what this means? The GoogleTranslate of her answer makes no sense...

Lisa two years older than you, she will soon turn 19. And she, as they say, has already met with the boys. And you young men do not devote even poetry? - Japanese I write poetry and touching messages - a little embarrassed, says Lena. - Fans from Japan showered me with gifts. And as for the boys something to say? Until I was up to them. That's when the grow up, catch up.

Lena's parents seem very much involved with her skating and based on an interview that I read from mom last year, mom comes off as the type that would not let her daughter starve herself. Even though her coach is not strict, I doubt she would let her do unhealthy stuff. TAT may have just meant Lena is working hard to overcome puberty issues in her skating, and not that she was doing unhealthy stuff.

Lena might be worried about weight gain because that LP dress has gotten tight. Would not surprise me if we start seeing the exhibition dress for the LP from now on. She did not look thinner to me at Nationals, but I agree that she would probably could probably benefit from some muscle.

I don't worry about Lena becoming to tall to skater singles anymore. She has to be almost done growing. Besides there are others way taller than Lena. I actually worry that Polina T might get to tall since she is like 5'7 already at 14, but that's for another thread.

Yeah, I guess I probably am overreacting...(as I always do!!) But my number one wish for Lena is for her to be healthy and happy. :agree: Of course, I want her to win all the major titles (including the Olympic gold medal!) and continue skating for many years, but if the grueling training and restrictive diet (and CSKA politics) become too much for her, and it isn't fun for her anymore, then she should go ahead and become an actress!

I'm guessing we don't want to know :furious:

Ok you were right, did not really want to know. Don't quite get the people who have to harass others to have fun. I watched that scope listen for English and saw that she blocked several people, but I did not know what they said because it was in Russian. Guessing this was one of the blocks.

I think anyone with social media is somewhat accustomed to trolls and I doubt Lena is willing to let them get her down. She probably just put them on block and didn't give them a second thought.

Was this posted here?

Lenok makes a face at and Yulia nearly loses it. Seems Lenok wins the poker face battle but what on earth is going on between those two. Inside joke maybe amongst friends? :drama:

Well, on both press-conferences at the Nationals, Elena looked really pissed off. She was the whole time absent and looked somehow isolated. This was one of the scenes where she was smiling.

Hmm, well I wouldn't call that "smiling"... THIS is smiling at the press conference!

Yeah, I saw people complaining about Lena being frosty during the LP press conference, but the poor baby was sick (she said she was coming down with a cold) and tired...and as for the SP press conference, personally, I enjoyed seeing all the smiles between Elena & Yulia, like here:
https://youtu.be/Fy3Yx9etnEA?t=1m44s :luv17:

As for the trolling on her Periscope...well, trolls will be trolls. :rolleye: I've seen some other inappropriate comments that Lena's received, but as far as I can tell, Lena just ignores them.

Some random links:

Lena changed her VK profile photo to another photo from Barcelona:

And I saw that Vitaly Mutko, Minister of Sports in Russia, replied to Lena's Happy New Year tweet!

Very cool! :agree:

Alina Solovyeva (Lena's training-mate) was on Periscope earlier today...but then Lena basically took over the phone and was skating around with it and talking..

Check out 5:27--Lena spots Adelina and gets really excited! She starts yelling "Adelinichka!!" and races over the boards to get a selfie with "Adelinichka." It's really cute.
