Elena Radionova

Oh my, it seems like Lena got sick. She says she wasn't feeling good at the morning practice, but her temperature was okay. Then on the way to the actual competition it went up to 38 Celsius. She says it was the toughest competition so far for her, she felt tired the entire time.

Get well soon, Lena.

Not surprised that, despite her illness, Lena held it together better than anyone else in that final group (after Liza unleashed a tornado on everyone).

Oh no :( probably that's why she looked so serious at the beginning of her program. I'm so proud she still performed very well

oh no Lena bb please get well!

btw is it me or the camerawork at times is super crappy:bang: it zooms in in some weird places & cuts skaters in weird ways
I especially noticed it in Lena's program & it got on my nerves!

I read that Rika Hongo saw Lena wearing the headband at Japan Open, and she was like, "oh that's cute! I want to use one of those," so that's how she ended up with the same headband.
aw its a super cute story! she's a fashion icon already:cool:

Poor Lena, she always seems to be falling ill! :drama: I was thinking that she looked rather serious in her SP (not as much smiling as usual), but if she was sick, it makes sense! Her jumps actually seemed to be much better than at Euros, and I really liked all the variations she added to her spins--like the one-handed shoot-the-duck sit spin before she went into her A-spin.

Congrats, Little Miss Sunshine, for skating another clean SP and finally getting a Level 4 on your step sequence!

And of course, Lena was pricelessly cute as usual in the K&C:

(That's Elena Maslennikova, her choreographer, on the right.)

I hope very much that Lena will manage to show her best routine in the FS. Though it will be difficult to win. But considering circumstances, the excellent performance will already be the highest success!
Lena's short interview after the routine http://www.youtube.com/watch?t=43&v=25kWmNKzQ7I

I sure hope Lena will feel better on Sat! Go out and kill it, baby!

This interview is kind of annoying because the lady announcer keeps making comments instead of asking questions.
Q: Your performance was full of speed and really appealed to the audience.
Lena: ??? [I think she is confused if there is a question there or not--there isn't] Thanks. I completed all my jumps successfully, and my spins were good, so I'm satisfied.
Q: It was your first Worlds, so it seemed like you were a little nervous, but you performed well. [something like that[
Lena: I was nervous, but actually, that was a good thing. Certainly, I did feel the responsibility of representing my country, Russia, at my first Worlds. But, as in any other competition, I was able to listen to myself and skate.
Q: What kind of performance do you want to show us in the free program?
Lena: I want to give the best performance I've done so far, but first of all, I want to skate clean.
Q: You were 2nd at GPF and Europeans, so you are probably aiming for a come-from-behind win?
Lena: Of course I feel that way.

Yeah, I really disliked how they showed her step sequence--it felt like I only saw Lena's back!! And I barely saw the shimmy down center ice, which is my favorite part.

But I was amused at how the camera zoomed in SUPER CLOSE on Lena's face in the K&C--it reminded me of the weird zoom-in on Lena's eyelashes at the Jr. Worlds medal ceremony. Yes, she is adorable!!

I really liked the answer of a well-known sports journalist Arthur Werner to the question posed by the user yanina. Here is the translation (I'm sorry for my bad English)

Good evening, Arthur.
Returning to the theme "Angels not survive on ice", what would you say about Lena Radionova? Many articles mention her light, easy and friendly character.
So who is she in your opinion, the angel or not?
Thank you

AW: "Good evening, Yanina,
a year and a half ago, in Oberstdorf, I met with Elena Igorevna Radionova personally and mentally elevated her to the rank of my "beloved child". I like her very much precisely for those traits of character which were noticed by my colleagues from the Russian media. Bright, friendly and intelligent girl, standing in this life on both legs. I mean that Elena doesn't use her hard won regalia as wings. I haven't noticed a single drop of star fever in herself. By the way, there is a considerable merit of her coach Inna Goncharenko in it, which was both the sports teacher in the kindergarten, and the teacher of all sports classes for her.
So far, Lena breaks the theory that only b**ches can reach the podium at Worlds and Olympics. And while Radionova trains at Goncharenko, she won't become a b**ch"

Nice to hear an "inside comment" like this.:) Lena sure is a true lady, or a "beloved child" in my books as well.

where did you get this, by the way?

thanks a lot for the vid with the commentary:cheer2:

Im glad it wasnt just my imagination. :disapp: It feels like they dont watch the programs before broadcasting & just randomly decide to take a certain angle:unsure:

I like Lena's eyelashes btw:love:

Congrats to Lena for fighting so hard and winning the bronze medal!! :cheer: So proud of our darling. She was so cute and energetic despite being so ill!!
