Well... In the first assigment: she have to beat 3 very good japonese ladies, a consistent Bradie Tennell and Polina Tsurskaya ( if she become consistent again is a very difficult adversary to beat) ... I don't think she can beat all the japonese ... or even Bradie Tennell .... I think her main goal will be beat Polina
In the NHK: A think she can medal but the main goal will be again beat the other russian ladies ... if she can beat stoskova and tuktamysheva ... will be more important than winning the GP

Bradie and Marin Honda will not be a big problem for Elena. Satoko makes mistakes so often, and she will not benefit from the new GOE system because of her small jumps and underrotations. But i think Kaori will be very strong next season, her performance at nationals, skate america, 4CC and
Olympics(i think she deserved the 5th place) were great.
 
Lena just needs good programs. The terrible cut music from Titanic is still haunting my mind... It wasn‘t that bad because of Elena’s sublime skating but when Jack and Rose‘s voices suddenly popped up... Well, that was the last straw. I couldn‘t take the program seriously after that, no matter what Lena did. So, I feel like Lena most of all needs good, well choreographed programs.

Happy to see her skating again! I think she skates pretty well, she jumped salchow for 4 times and they look ready for competitions.
 
It is so nice to see Elena perform! There is a certain je ne sais quoi about her. Even with the cheesy music, flailing arms and hair, and not so perfect jumps, it is still a joy to watch her skate. :biggrin:

She is a ray of sunshine, showing exuberance and beauty on ice. I think she is like a skating fairy. Please let us see Elena skate to some good music and wonderful programs next season, dear skating gods! :pray: Wishing our skating fairy a successful new season! :luv17:

Chopin is the cheesy music? Salсhows are good, other jumps Elena has not jumped in a gala for a long time. Elena's hair is very beautuful.

Agreed, much better than open mouth, fake emotions, forced jumps and overused pantomime. You know who i'm talking about.
Elena is a real performer.

I think Elena is more artistic than Evgenia. But I do not like such harsh criticism. Evgenia is a very good skater anyway. I hope that Evgenia will change thanks to the team Orser. Style of team Tutberidze is a result at any cost. When girls regularly say that puberty does not exist, that one should just not eat, I start to panic. This is a terrible method. Tutberidze in season 12-13 said that Lipnitskaya had an adult female figure. What? But girls are not guilty of anything. I finish offtopic.

Hi, I think you misunderstood my post. The cheesy music was in reference to Titanic. Her hair is indeed very beautiful. I meant that despite any cheesy music (not referring to Chopin), any hair flailing, or even with not perfect jumps, I still love to watch her skate. This would not apply to any other female skaters. So I wasn't criticizing her but rather pointing out how much I enjoy her. :biggrin:

Ok, I just thought that you write about the music from Denis Ten show. Although I do not hate music from the Titanic, I am indifferent to it. "Even with... flailing arms and hair" Here I thought that you think that hair is a minus of Lena, but you still like to watch her skating. I think that hands can be called a minus, but long fluttering hair in gala is a distinctive feature of Lena that makes the programs better.

I completely agree with you and "evhambeey" and have to commend you for being so diplomatic and fair in your response. Obviously, it does come down to personal tastes, so not everyone is going to share my views, but all the qualities "evhambeey" described completely turns me off to Med's skating. I have not been able to watch any of her skates since I cannot stomach the contrived programs and her execution. Whereas Elena’s organic joy, passion, and connection to the music are such a refreshing contrast.

My apologies for giving the wrong impression. My idea of cheesy music also applies to Beyonce and the latest ex “It Doesn’t Hurt”. Again, I realize it is all a matter of personal taste and preference. I was just making a point that even with the cheesy music (IMHO), I still enjoy Elena's skating. Same with the hair. If it was anybody else, the long, fluttering hair would probably annoy me, but not our girl Elena. It reminds me of some of the pictures of long haired maidens and fairies I’ve seen, like this one. This is why I called her a fairy. That is meant as a compliment, because fairies are full of magic, sparkle, personality and charm, all the qualities that she exudes on ice.

As the Eurosport commentator (Simon) said during the 2017 CoC SP: “At her best, she’s a sight for sore eyes.” “Personality to burn.” :)

I don't like to write about music "cheesy". The music that I least like from Elena's programs is Aguilera and Gershwin. But Gershwin is a legend, it is not "cheesy". After Beyonce many people wrote about the fact that Lena's style is incendiary pop music. After Chopin many people wrote about the fact that Lena's style is classical music. I think that Lena's style is just music. The main thing is that in programs do not have bad cut music, as in Titanic.
