Elizabet TURSYNBAEVA - SP, Nepela Trophy 2018

Very nice.

Why does she represent Kazakhstan? If it's because there's a lot less competition there than in Russia with ladies figure skating then I think a lot more of the Russian seniors and juniors are going to look to other countries so they can had the chance to perform in major International competitions.

Yes there is nearly no comeptition in Kaz and her family is from there. There are already a lot of Russian skaters that switched country to have better chances. There is a Russian junior who represents France. Forgot her name

Yes, it's much easier that way, even some russian girls represent other countries for having a chance to skate internationally. She represents Kazakhstan from 2011 by the way.

Anna Kuzmenko. And there are many others representing Austria, Poland and other countries (incl. my country).

It is a decision she made years ago, and that was the reason why she had to leave Eteri, cause for 2013-14 season RusFed forced russian coaches to work only with russian skaters in order to prepare them for Sochi.

Eteri explained in a press conference a while ago that she wanted to keep Elizabet but the girl was proud to represent Kazakhstan so she had to leave Russia.

Anyway now she is back and you can tell the Eteri/Sergei/Daniil formula really works for her, i think this is the best skate i've seen from her in the past 2 years.

Thank you. It makes sense what she is done and what others are doing to better their careers.

It's just hard to believe how many good teenage skaters there are out there in the female division who represent Russia or are from Russia.

When I see Elizabet's program, I'm thinking that (adult) skaters can grow under Eteri, after all, despite some predictions

I think it can't be disputed that Team Eteri signature style is a good match for LilBet. They know what to do with tiny looking girls. Solid jumps, nice start! Congrats, Elizabet!

Very beautiful skating. Obviously, the season still is young. But to me, she was actually interesting to watch for the first time in years. In years past, watching her has been about as interesting as watching paint dry for me. It was truly wonderful to see. I really think that she can improve a lot, too - Her jumps were in a dire condition to end the last season and she recently got injured. I'm really looking forward to the kind of a FS she has this season.

Additionally, it was great seeing her happy and smiling in the KnC. I don't think I really saw her that out of her before, or I just hadn't been paying attention.

I'd give her first place in the short program. The best choreography and the most confident performance. And the improvements in her skating are much more noticeable than I expected.

overall it was great performance, well done Lil' Bet!! :yahoo::hap57: i always find her skating very light but i didnt see it during her stsq today (rest was very good though :luv17:), obviously its still early in the season and program is new, i am so happy to see her skating again and cant wait to see the progress, and i too would put her 1st place, at least on PCS department :agree:

edit: my only complaint is the sudden music change in the middle of her combo :slink:

SENSATIONAL improvement. Wasting time with Brian Orser was a huge mistake for Eliza.
Bravo Liza, bravo Eteri and Daniil.:clap: Great job everybody, I'm looking forward for FS.

I’m really happy they brought back her awesome Beillmann from the junior days:love:

Totally agree about the weird timing of the combo and music...was she behind a bit maybe or ahead even? I was actually very impressed with the steps. Very well delivered and very very impressive throughout but I think she had good feeling too.

It’s nice to see her excell in her new environment. I’m very happy with this SP and her performance level.

Indeed. Elizabet's skating was wonderful. But her K&C felt empty.

Can someone tell me if Mama Tursynbaeva will show up in the future? Did Eteri kick her out?

BossT always comes thru with good KnC and replay tunes though :yahoo:

Guess the weird music cuts are danils fault. He is the master of weird music cuts. Otherwise so nice to see her doing well. Eteri worked her magic.

1st of all, i am happy to see the Lil' Biellman back too!!!!!! about steps, my standart for steps for Elizabet is her SP I got rhytm and EX little secret programs, they were brilliant (and understated) but she seemed she was playing catch up here, but as i said its still early in the season and i am sure that wont be the case as the season progress, she definitely is capable of it :luv17:

and about Orser/Eteri coaching, not every coach's style fits a skater but i dont agree with the idea that time she spent in Canada was a waste, its a learning process and i am sure she learnt something there, as The Great Yuzuru says, efforts may lie but they are never in vain
