I think it's a smart decision. No need to hurry things. I'd rather have Liza place well with a less 'wow' program than risk the 3A if she doesn't feel 100% secure about the landing, and possibly get injured like she was last season. Go Liza, your programs are my favorite among this season's Ladies, even without the 3A.

I mean, Liza's team not bothering to update the program content that they submit to the organisers, which they have used all season long. On the official sheets Pitkeev was listed to do 4T during SP in Junior Worlds, which is impossible. So I was wondering if Liza's team just submitted the wrong information like Pitkeev's team did.
I am only surprised because she said on a Japanese news clip that she would indeed attempt 3A during Worlds. Anyway, I suppose we will find out! If she doesn't do 3A I will be far less anxious...

This sounds exactly as how I would picture Mishin. He has a reputation of being a tough technical coach who emphasises a lot on his students being gung ho enough to challenge the difficult elements and to lose trying them rather than back down and play it safe for a medal. Plushenko was definitely the prototypical Mishin protege. It certainly takes someone of certain mental toughness being a Mishin student. It is very tough and draining but his proteges always have a good competitive spirit. They may falter and bomb but at least they will get up to fight another day. The only weakness is that Mishin does not spend much time on developing choreography and the whole package although Plushy and Tuks are both pretty good performers and entertainers in their own ways.

FWIW - My hunch/gut feeling all along has been that she is going to go for the 3A...
But regardles... I think there are advantages to submitting an easier layout than the one she is actually going to attempt - we discussed this here earlier on the thread - so they maybe didn't bother to update it. Just in case there is some late hitch, and the 3A is really not working, they can change back last minute. And an intentional 2A won't be assumed to be a popped 3A. Oh, just speculating - and maybe I'm just overthinking things - maybe they were just lazy, and thought "Oh, why bother?"

I missed that discussion... but my guess is that it would be more beneficial to submit an "easier" layout, and then add the difficult element during the program -- as opposed to submitting a difficult layout, and then falling back to easier elements on-the-fly during the skate. It always seems like the latter tends to get 'punished' in GoE, because it's seen as a mistake.
Still don't expect to see a 3A at Worlds...

So many mixed messages from Liza and Mishin, causing mixed feelings on my end. I still think 2A is the smarter choice, even if it's not as exciting.
I guess we'll have to see how the training goes. She did gain back the 3A very quickly, but there's a period between "learning" and "mastery" where progress tapers off a little. Like learning an instrument--the first hurdle is to go from "I can't play" to "I can play," but then there's a wall between "I can play" and "I've mastered it." If Liza shatters that wall before Worlds, that's when we'll see it, imo.

So far no readable practice report on Liza from the Worlds rink. Disappointed.:scowl: Many fans seem to be more interested in a Japanese technical specialist named Amano Shin who is to referee the Ladies Competitions.

Liza's jump practice this morning in Shanghai went very well! Her 3Lz is to die for!!! 
I thought she once tried to jump a 3A, but it turned out be a 2A. Was she testing the competitive ice intentionally before attempting the 3A? I don't know. I cannot upload the clips, sorry guys.

Not the best draw. She won't have the advantage of knowing how others skated, which would take the pressure off (if they skate badly, for obvious reasons; if they skate well, she can think, "Well, I need 3A anyway so I might as well as go for it without fear").
I hope the Cup of China win--her first major win on her comeback trail--will bring good memories and enable her to go clean.

Doesn't she say that she doesn't pay attention to what other skaters do before her skate? I think she said in the Euros interview that she didn't know. I don't necessarily think it is good to have the 3A be some kind of contingency plan. Commit - or don't commit. That's not the kind of uncertainty she should have hanging over her head during the competition itself. That could be terribly energy-draining.
