I think nailing that 3A in the FS will be all the more important now, otherwise that seed of doubt gets planted, not a good way to close out an amazing season while looking ahead to a new one.
You might have a point here, though I hope you're wrong. In light of this, would it be better for Liza to: 1) land 3A and mess up her other jumps (since that proves she can still do the axel--something similar happened at the St. Petersburg competition, and she was ready by Worlds) or 2) miss 3A but go clean otherwise (since it proves she has the stamina--she just needs to work harder on the landing. Plus, this will likely score better and could still net her the win depending on how others skate).

I actually think it's better to fall in the 3A in the short. She only has two more jumping passes to get through, and she did--the program didn't suffer. And if she can skate the free completely clean with 3A, that's just  (and will be a huge confidence boost).

Yes, it's just WTT, that's how I see it. Lots of re-framing going on, though. Her competitors may not see it that way. She may have gone from 'unbeatable' to 'beatable'. Whether it is an illusion or not, often times all that's needed is to buy into an illusion, to provide mental strength (or lack thereof) in sports.
Nobody is unbeatable. Post-figures, Midori Ito never won a single WC even though she easily could have (and no, it's not because judges didn't appreciate her--it's because she didn't go clean and didn't deliver her planned content).

Liza has actually been beaten several times this year, including at her own Nationals. She was behind Elena in the SP at Europeans, and had to skate after Elena went clean in the LP; she was perfect and won. Here, even with a fall, she placed ahead of Elena. She also proved that she can come back after a fall, and the 3A isn't her only TES salvation like it was for Mao circa. 2010.

A clean LP like Europeans would still net her the overall win, unless Gracie magically fixes her lip overnight (Ashley skating like Nationals could maybe win the segment, but she's too far back after the SP).

I'm wary of axel in the LP mainly because I don't think she had enough time to train/gain the necessary stamina. But making mistakes because she's tired at WTT shouldn't affect her next year.

Well, I think Mishin considered that WTT is that kind of the event where Liza can try and even if she fails it is not a big deal. He like noone understands the importance of competition practice, in order to be able to make something unusually hard at the serious competition. Because if one has never tried, how can she/he be confident to go for it in front of audience?
However, even with the fall and level 3 spin, she got more points from this SP with 3axel than from brilliant Europeans SP without one.

She says hello, and then I think she says that she is feeling well today (maybe after the short program?). I am a little rusty, but "genki" is definitely "feeling well".

Thank you for translating! Japanese is one of the languages I want to learn, as well as Mandarin, French, and Russian.

If this were a normal competition and there was a cumulative score from both programs to determine an overall individual winner, I'd agree with you from a points-perspective.

Mentally, though, it's tough to fall on the 3A in the short, because it puts pressure on her now to try again in the free, and perhaps less confident in the attempt. Also, her competitors know she fell on the 3A, so they are no longer fearing that element in putting Liza's score to an "unbeatable" number... any of the top skaters now have a chance to land in 1st place, and they can honestly believe it without having to trick themselves into it.

I'm surprised with you. Are you really worried about this competition?

I was actually at work when I posted most of this stuff today (just got home about an hour ago). When I post from work, I usually have a different mindset than when I'm at home relaxing. Sometimes I try to avoid browsing these forums while at work since I usually find myself engaging in discussions to procrastinate from doing other things. I'd rather worry about WTT than actual real-life problems that directly affect me on a daily basis.

I sincerely hope Liza is going to lie on a beach somewhere for a month with chocolate and icecream and just sleep.

Of course, then to come back eager for next season!

Congrats to Liza!! Congrats on the performance at this competition and on the whole amazing season by her!

Thank you, Liza, for your wonderful performances at WTT and especially that superb 3A! I am so happy and proud of you and your great team! Finally you can get relaxed a little bit and take a good rest.

 No, I meant worried about Liza in this competition because there was nothing to be worried about. ;)

Congratulations to Liza!

Liza. Congrats on your phenomenal season!
Isn't it a record - 13 and a half starts, being second only twice - during one season?

Really proud of what Liza delivered in the free. I've never seen her look so exhausted at the end of an LP--usually, she looks like she could go on for another minute--but that just proves how exhausting the 3A is. (I have even more respect for Mao Asada now--as if I didn't respect her enough already!--to throw 3A out there for so many years).

Considering it's the end of a long, gruelling season, and Liza only regained her 3A a few months ago, the skate was as good as could be expected. She only made one error, and still had six clean triples. Not her usual quality, but as the B. Eurosport commentators used to say, the good skaters land the bad jumps. I think Liza has learned that this year, compared to previous seasons.

All in all, to actually increase your technical difficult at WTT + to execute most of it = very promising and should give her a confidence boost. :) There was nothing to worry about indeed.

Liza has started her season with Russian Cup-1st stage, which was in early September. Since then for next 8 months she had 14 competitions; it has been so long for her. I cannot even imagine how tired she must feel. It showed a little on her EX yesterday. I wish her to have full rest and then the new season to be as incredible as 2014-2015.

So it makes 15 competitions in total -wow! Am I correct that Lisa fell only twice - in sp at Bavarian Open and WTT for the whole season (both on 3A) that must be a world record...

Congratulations on the triumphal season and a looong holiday is sure in order! I am probably alone in that I don't care about 3A as much as I should, and that my favourite Lisa's programs this season were at Euros. She was at her best there - confident, free, joy to watch. A 3A though is a massive achievement did take away a lot from her performances. Sure it will work better next season.

Meanwhile here are some nice photos of Lisa put together:
