Is there some way to get the spin levels without those back-breaking moves? It seems like those spins can cause back problems every bit as much as the jumps. (Now, for the record, I'm actually a staunch defender of the Biellmann... but there should be other options for girls like Liza who aren't ballerina-flexible).
No, there isn't. That's why you see so many of the men now contorting themselves into ridiculous positions, and why in not so very long we're going to start seeing a range of back injuries in the men, too.
I'm talking about how the rules should reward/not reward certain spins. On one hand, I think difficult variations like the Biellmann should be rewarded because they're, well, difficult. On the other hand, I feel like people should have a chance to make back the points by adding other features to the spin, or just doing a good spin (hence my suggestion to keep the levels, but to make GOE worth more, so people will be encouraged to do the spin they're best at).
personally I think Liza's spin is the least of her problem right now.
