It's just so sad, because it would be so small adjustments that would boost her scores by a couple of points!! They are not even trying! :gaah:

The coaches do try, just not hard enough. Or maybe they are just not able to. Perhaps a paradigm shift in coaching methods is required but when a coaching team has been so successful in the past (90s and 00s), there develops a resistance to major changes.

According to someone on twitter, Liza is planning to Jump the 3A in both short and free program

Yes, it's true. Mishin gave a short interview on the 14th saying so. I don't know if she will eventually follow through with that plan in the FS or not, but we shall see.

Adding my good luck wishes for Liza! Sadly, the time difference and the fact I work on weekends means I won't be able to watch any of Trophy France live :disagree: but goooo Liza! You can bring it!

:pray::hap10:

Sigh...

The worst thing is that I'm sure she CAN do it, which is what makes it so frustrating...

Come on, Liza, don't sell yourself short - tomorrow is another day; show us what you can REALLY do.

That was a rough skate from Liza. Better luck tomorrow, if she skates clean she might still eke out a, say, #6 finish...? I think she should drop the 3A, as the chance of a bad landing affecting the rest of the program is higher than the reward. 3A not her only strength anyway.

I don't know... what has she to lose? 6th place will do her no good at all anyway - which is what she might get with a clean program AND a 3A anyway. 11th place... 6th place... I doubt it will make much odds to the Rus fed. If Liza's team see the 3A as her hope going forward, then they should put it in there. That is, unless she isn't landing it in practice - in which case, by all means, take it out. She should just go out there and skate for her own pride now - that's all she's going to be likely to get out of it. Forget placement.

If she's not going to the Olympics next year, do you think she will do another 4 years? I somehow doubt it. On the other hand, maybe just the years after the Olympics are hers :'D

I don't know. Selfishly I want her to stay in, because, through all the ups and downs, the thick & thin, I just love her skating, and would miss her terribly if she retired.

I've mentioned this in the Ladies thread before, but I think Tarakanova's Programs would fit Liza very much. I hope she gets inspired from them for next year! :)
