Last year Wakaba qualified to GPF with 24 and Satoko as a substitute with 22.

Liza also has 1+3, which will break a tiebreak with somebody who has 2+2.

A comparison with JGPF is not exactly accurate.

As of today:

1. Satoko (1+2)
2. Liza (1+3)
3. Kaori (2+3)

Remaining contenders:

Alina (1+?)
Rika (1+?)
Stanislava (2+?)
Mako (2+?)
Evgenia (3+?)
Sofia (3+?)

4th place finishers win a win in the second event may also enter the conversation.

It is important to note that there are 7 JGP events but only 6 GP events. Because there are only 6 GP events skater will automatically qualify for the Final with a gold and a bronze medal because the skater can not drop lower than 6th in the standings no matter what happens in other events. This is not true in JGP events where skater, in theory, might not qualify for the final with one gold and one silver medal. And all this is because there are 7 JGP events.

2,5 points more BV and approx. 1 point more in GOE on the 3-jump-combo (because of the higher Loop value). That would have been silver.

And that's not even the max. It's a slightly more difficult, but still realistic option for Liza.

What did she say about the 3A combo?

Question: "Two triple axels, one in a combination, possible in a future long program by you? "
Answer: "Yes. After today’s competition especially"

I hate to be that person, but Liza absolutely deserved the silver today, and I think she would have gotten it had this competition been held anywhere other than Japan. Satoko had two unclear edge calls and two underrotations and Liza was step perfect except for a three turn out of an otherwise rotated 3A. Not impressed by the judging between those two.

Another great outing from the queen! I feel like she deserved the silver. She really has come to throw it down this season!

Per Twitter, Liza is going to commentate Rostelecom Cup on Match TV.

I know which channel I'll be watching then :)

In case any of you were curious about the CBC commentary for her NHK Trophy LP, it's at the 1:31 mark (the password is women): https://vimeo.com/297835241

There's also a fluff piece about the female skaters who have landed the triple Axel in competition at 8:30, plus her warm-up clip is at 1:09 (the password is women): https://vimeo.com/297835121

Her "Coming Up" fluff: https://vimeo.com/300198719 (I had to keep this video separate because it was shown during the Men LP.)

Her SP wasn't broadcast on Canadian television.
