I love that Sinead and John got the highest technical mark. The judges must have been floored when he actually got the twizzles right! During them, in fact, Chris Howarth was going, "Come on, John, you can do it!" And he did it. Though the way the scores are, he's going to have to do it again tomorrow. I, for one, will be cheering him on.
In other news, Mr. Speedy is in town and was in the building. The camera went to him a couple of times, and when Nicky Slater went a-ranting about the failure of the presentation mark to do what it's supposed do, Chris warned him that he might want to keep his head down, which Nicky boldly refused to do. What nefarious purpose Mr. Speedy has, what events he has caused so far, and what this will do when gold will likely come down to who skates clean in the FD but the bronze seems to be a bit gifted(both Russian teams messed up their twizzles, in fact) remains to be seen.

I saw the OD and the results seemed pretty fair. I was actually shocked by the Kerr's Tech mark...I think they deserved a point below, but well, I guess it's fine like this.
I'm starting to like Kokhlova Novitski, however I agree they messed up a bit...though their presence on the ice improved dramatically. Pechalat Bourzat: nothing special. Impressed by Faiella Scali energy.

I watched the OD on french eurosport and I admit I'm not an expert in ice dancing, but the french commentators completely trashed Dom/Sha.. I hope I understood the french wrong but i understood it as he just thought she was a pretty face that should go for modelling instead because she had nothing to do in figure skating...? Ok, they're not my favourite couple, but surely she must do somethihg right if they're currently the second best team in europe...

Anyone else who use to watch french eurosport? Are the commentator (the man in particular) always so negative? I love the british eurosport coz usually they always have so much positive to say about the skaters (even the not so good ones) and that makes so much nicer television.

It's Philippe Pélissier. And yeah, he's always like that. He's pretty much known for it. With french skaters too ;)

He didn't totally mean that Oksana should model and stop skating. He's just...frustrated that Oksana is sort of turning into a barbie girl: "smile and be pretty". I kind of agree that they are overmarked and really pushed. I mean if any other team messed twizzles like Max did they'd get level 1. During the fotwork she was litterally pushing him...they were slowwww today but when you look at their marks
I should add that Pellisier's a big Khoklova fan and he was arguing that being tall doesn't mean everything

I'm no expert when it comes to ice dance, I don't understand a thing about it. But I usually like watching because it's fun, I love the music and it all looks so pretty most of the time. It's like lay down and relax and have fun, I have no favourites to root for, let me just enjoy the show.

I hadn't watch any dance competition this season until today but I have to say I hadn't enjoyed one ice dance competition so much like I did today since a very long time. It was beautiful because of the diversity of music, costumes and the whole mood. I pretty much enjoyed it. Last year I loved the Tango but no matter when they did, it was just the same mood, the same kind of music. Today I much appreciated the diversity.

i have to say that I am really surprised that the French have kept up thier good skating and are still ahead of the Russians. Very surprisng for me. Looks like this is finally thier year.

YAY relief....
i was dying of curiousity in class!
 allez isa et oli

i need to see the ODs before criticizing and what not

but woo hoo 1st

hope the judges dont overscore the russians tomorrow....dom/sha that is.....

once more the french were on a level on thier own
incomparable to the russians

i like the music of the russians though...
but this time the music outplayed their skating

isa and oli.....very into the characters, their skating quality never better, secure, smooth, and without tension

good luck on the free!
