Well, he certainly exudes the modeling vibe. I agree that the pictures are a bit edgy for me. One of the earlier posters said that he looked uncomfortable. Maybe he's just supposed to look surly and make us uncomfortable? Hope they let him smile someday! At least we won't have to worry that he'll be at a loss for a second career after skating.

Please keep in mind that it's the photographer who sets up the shots for the model. That these shots became part of the portfolio, I have to assume that Evan gave him what he asked for. Duran from what I can tell likes "edge" from his subjects. He got it from Evan!! If that's trying too hard, I'm all for it.

Sort of an odd question as I doubt that any of us is holding ourselves out as a model. We can comment on the success or failure of things we cannot do. Have you, like the rest of us, ever assessed an actor's performance in a movie?
Also I don't know that people are casting any stones at Evan personally but perhaps at the results and at the folks who supervised the creative aspects of this shoot. Given that these photos are supposed to present him as a saleable commodity as a model, the photos do a terrible, terrible job.
They could have presented him in any of a dozen ways in terms of look-feel-approachability and they chose something that is off-putting, clearly not a 'natural fit' for him and painfully, beyond his modeling experience level.
I trust he could do better in better hands. He's not a seasoned or model so none of the control was his - maybe next time he'll wind up with better people around him who know how to work with an individual's strengths/weaknesses in terms of look and experience. This is, as someone else said, "ew"... but I don't think that the ew-factor was Evan's fault. I feel for him as I'm sure he did what they asked.

Points well taken.
Good ol' Ty-Ty will definitely not do that for the ladies (e.g., Celia from Cycle 12), but in general male models last a whole lot longer, especially in catalog work where a whole bunch of them are over 30. And that's fine by me since seeing Evan on the runway to Galliano or Gaultier is the fashion equivalent of the apocalypse...
Also, it seems that a different set of rules apply to celebrity models as opposed to "regular" models. As the reigning mens world champion and if he medals (or even better for him wins) in Vancouver he might be chosen for some lucrative endorsement deals.

seems that way. Eva Longria Parker has done Bebe and some other things and she is only like 5"2. Remember sasha even had some "pro" modeling pics done and she is very tiny. Goes to show you don't have to be tall to be beautiful and have stage presence.
