Just curious: does anyone see any improvements since they moved to Tutberidze team? I really wish they medal at Olympics, but honestly, I don't see them doing that with current form. It looks as hopless as it did season, two seasons ago... But maybe I just don't see positives.

Not really...they did improve when Max T joined their team.

I really think the music is an issue. Not only is Lighthouse kind of...too lyrical, it was also skated superbly by one of the greatest pairs ever. It's really awkward and I find it hard to believe Danny G doesn't know about it.

They changed the SP when they should have changed the FS and I can't help thinking it's because Danny G wanted to choreo BOTH programs. I think he's addicted to choreography and doesn't want to share :(

Also let's face it Team Crystal is just getting into the pairs game. I don't think Eteri's losing sleep over how the make T/M the best she can. She's looking to the future, I guess that's her perogative, but it sucks for T/M. They need to be the focus of a coaching team, not a test case.

They posted their best FS score of their career and generally skated cleaner than they normally do, this season. Over the last years they would often have multiple bad mistakes, but this season it’s been definitely getting better.
They can’t put it together just yet, but let’s see how it will go at the GPF.
No one can guarantee an instant success and 100% clean skates at the likely last season of their careers, no coach in the world can possibly make that happen. They’re not young guns like M/G and have had the problem with putting out clean skates their whole career. It is a bit naive to think it will be completely gone by now.

Things can change and Tutberidze can mostly insure her athletes deliver when it matters the most. Let’s see if this applies to T/M as well.

I definitely think they can medal, even if they have some mistakes. I think they need to be clean to go for the gold, but there are 3 spots on the podium. Only Mishina/Galliamov and Sui/Han have scored better than the 213 T/M had at NHK at this point. There are a couple other teams who can (like P/J and B/K), but T/M can also do better than 213 (and have this season).

On a slightly different topic, it is a little interesting to me that their two worst events this season have been when they competed against M/G. At Cranberry they were great, and scored 227. Skate America wasn't perfect, but they got 222 there. At both Finlandia and NHK they scored around 213. It's only two events, so it may not mean anything. I just noticed because both teams ended up with basically the same total scores at NHK that they'd had at Finlandia.

I think they’re letting M/G into their heads.

Brian Orser says it really takes 18 months to settle in to a new coaching situation and really see results, T/M are really just months into this. They have had the least stable coaching situations this entire quad. Mozer dropped them and Max stepped in and tried the best he could. They went to Zoueva, but struggled because of Evgenia’s leg injury and then the pandemic happened and that made it impossible. They tried going back to Florida for awhile, but then got stuck in Russia being coached by Max and Sergei Voronov.

They did upgrade to the throw 3Lz after abandoning the throw 3F three years ago. The issue with jumps has always been mental and not technique. I do think they are fighting harder to save things in the past.

I know everyone loves to criticize Eteri, but from what I’ve seen, T/M are not an afterthought or second side project to her. She seems invested in them and like she wants them to succeed.

I would also think that Dasha's injury could affect them strongly, as the whole mood in the team was probably very low and it impacted the free skate.

2 nearly clean skates with only 3 minor errors across 2 programs and new SB! 228 points combined! :party2::yahoo:Am I dreaming?
I knew they could do it!
Their 2019 Worlds result is beat by 0.02 points, but hey, it’s the right direction at least ;)
