Explanation, please re: Maxwell v. Cannarozzo?

We've talked about strategy many times during GP events.

This Junior method is a wait and see after 3 or 4 completed events to see who gets a second chance. It's obvious for those who get gold and silver but what about bronze?

Maxwell was not given a second chance but Canorazzo was given Sheffield.
Canorazzo was given the easiest of the GPs for US ladies in Estonia and placed 4th; Maxwell was up against Mirai and Gilles in Lake Placid and got bronze.

If I speculate, it will be thinking about favoritism or well, ......

Can anyone explain this decision?

Where did you hear that Julia will be going? Is it from a source because USFS has not updated their assignments and until it is on USFS it is not official. At least that is what I have heard over and over. If it is on the ISU website it could be a preliminary assignment and those are not guaranteed.

In the ISU listing Julia has an x under GB. Angela has Ss.

I believe it has to be that Julia got 2 pts higher in her final score than Angela.
IMO, the USFS believes that all judges are equal, and the scores from whatever competition decide an outcome not the placeings.

I thought it's because USFSA announced beforehand that any team placing in the top 4 at any of the early JGP's would get a second assignment, the exception being the third highest placing among Americans at Lake Placid. Angela Maxwell falls into the exception category.

Among the ladies single competitors, since everyone did so well at their 1st assignment, a lot of the girls are guaranteed a second assignment, including Cannarozzo, and they're filling up the remaining assignments. The only one Angela Maxwell might have bumped is Melissa Bulanhaghui, who missed her initial JGP assignment and is re-assigned.

So Maxwell did get shut out of a second assignment. That is too bad but I am sure she will work on her skills and give some girls a run for their money in January. Good luck Angela at Regionals/Sectionals!
And your source was right, Julia did get a second assignment. I think she is a beautiful skater and surely deserves.
I bet Melissa Bulanhagui is devastated that assignments were made before she even had an opportunity to compete. I hope she skates well and gains more experience for the season ahead.
Also, good for Chelsi and Danny getting a second chance this season. They had a great performance in the SP and I hope they have a better skate in the LP at GBR! Good Luck

Maxwell was in deed shut out and we look forward to her good skating in Regionals and Sectionals. I haven't a clue about Bulanghagui. Wasn't she ill?

Halverson finished in 5th place.but lower in points than Dornbush and Oi. So something is going on with these assignments which we will never know.

Oh yes. Where did Keegan Messing come from? This will be his only GP and they couldn't give it to Tommy.

Maybe it's because Halverson has 7 points and a 5th-place finish, while OI, Dornbush and Steenberg all have 5 points and 6th-place fiinishes. Eliot is also the 2007 US Junior Champion.
